

Marien Sue Baker, 72, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2017 in the late morning. Marien was born October 12, 1945 in Fremont, Ohio to Harold and Lila Anstead. In 1966 she married the love of her life, Richard Baker, and “Together Forever” they raised a caring family in Canton, Ohio. From the mid-70’s to the mid-90’s Marien worked for Home Interiors and Gifts. She became a regional sales manager for the company and made many life long friendships with her displayers. Eventually in 2005, Richard and Marien retired to Colorado.
Marien was a fun and creative woman. She loved to cook and decorate. She even owned her own candle shop for a few years called Marien’s Warm Reflections. In Ohio, she enjoyed house boating with friends on Atwood Lake. In later years she enjoyed being a part of the Card Club at the Sunflower Retirement Community in Fort Collins and planning community dinners. No matter where she lived, she loved Christmas and her family. Marien was always very proud of her five grandchildren.
Marien is survived by her devoted husband of 51 years, Richard “Dick” of Fort Collins, Colorado; daughter, Laura and husband Jeff Witte of Fort Collins; daughter Angela and husband “Rick” Byelene of Alliance, Ohio; grandchildren Heather Witte, Derek Witte and wife Rebecca of Colorado and Cody, Cheyenne and Dustin Byelene of Alliance, Ohio; sister Karen Woit of Massillon, Ohio; brother-in-law Ken and wife “Marty” Baker of Massillon, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews. Marien was preceded in death by her parents “Hap” and Lila Anstead and her brother “Butch” Anstead.
Marien’s family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Lemay Avenue Health and Rehab Facility for their outstanding care for the past year and to Pathways of Northern Colorado for their many services that comforted Marien and her family since Thanksgiving.
A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, December 20th at Allnutt Funeral Service, 650 W. Drake Rd. Fort Collins, CO, from 1:00PM to 4:00PM. At a later time the family will return with Marien to Canton Ohio, for a memorial service and burial. In lieu of flowers the family requests charitable donations be made in Marien’s name to Pathways of Northern Colorado.
