

Marilyn E. Goodrich passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2018. Marilyn was born March 18, 1928 in Doniphan, Nebraska to Ethel Waller Whiting and Edward T. Whiting. She had one older brother, Donald Edward Whiting who lost his life in WWII. After the war, Marilyn and her mother moved to Fort Collins to be closer to family. She attended Fort Collins High School and graduated in 1945. Marilyn and Jack Goodrich were married in Fort Collins on June 16, 1946. They purchased the Blythe-Goodrich Mortuary in 1947. Both Jack and Marilyn were very active in their church and community.
Marilyn had been an active member of the First Christian Church, singing in the choir, serving as treasurer of the church and president of the church foundation. She had also been Worthy Advisor of the Rainbow Girls, Worthy Matron of Collins Chapter 26, Order of Eastern Star, past president of Soroptimist Club, past president of Chapter, CO of PEO and head of Reach to Recovery. Jack and Marilyn sold the mortuary to the Allnutt family which allowed them to pursue their love of travel, spend winters in Arizona, and to travel extensively in their 5th-wheel, and spent time square dancing, golfing and playing bridge.
After Jack’s death in 1993, Marilyn continued to contribute to the community by volunteering at the Aspen Club at Poudre Valley Hospital; helping in the Kindergarten room at Timnath Elementary and working as support staff at Allnutt Funeral Service. She is survived by her son, Herbert A. Goodrich of San Francisco and her daughter, Patricia L. Murphy (J.D.) of Fort Collins. She is also survived by her three grandsons, Adam Hamilton, Seth Hamilton (Leslie Padilla) and Connor Murphy.
Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 7, 2018 at the Drake Road Christian Church, Fort Collins with reception to follow. Private inurnment to follow. Memorial contributions can be made to Good Samaritan Society and/or Pathways Hospice of Fort Collins.
