

Marjorie was born at Elk City, Oklahoma October 6th, 1937 to Earnest and Bessie Sappington. She was the youngest of four children with three older brothers. She grew up on a farm chopping and pulling cotton, driving a tractor, taking care of animals, and canning food.
She graduated from Brinkman High School May of 1955. She graduated from Southwestern State Teachers College at Weatherford, Oklahoma in May of 1958 with a degree in elementary education and a minor in business. Margie taught school in Amarillo, Texas; Tucson, Arizona; Alemaya, Ethiopia; and Islamabad, Pakistan. She taught kindergarten through third grade for about 10 years.
She married Wayne Clyma on July 9, 1960 in Mangum, Oklahoma. Her first son Gary Wayne was born in Stillwater, Oklahoma in December of 1961. Her second son Howard Earl was born in Amarillo, Texas in May of 1963. Her third son David Ray was born in Tucson, Arizona in February of 1967. He was born with severe birth defects and died a year later.
Margie taught first and second grade Sunday School classes for more than 35 years. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and family. She visited more than twenty countries and lived on three continents. She enjoyed many different crafts. She enjoyed rubber stamping and making greeting cards. She taught rubber stamping classes to international students, CSU students, and friends free of charge. She also liked to take jewelry craft classes and make necklaces and earrings.
She was very active with the CSU Women Association. She served on the board as first and second vice president and then as president and past president. She helped start a rubber stamping club for members. She was the hostess chair of the membership teas and helped with tours to Denver, Georgetown, and Boulder.
Margie and Wayne were a host family for CSU international students for nearly 40 years serving over 300 students. Many of them became “adopted” sons and daughters and “adopted” grandkids. She was director of International Friends (a ministry to international student’s wives) at Immanuel Baptist Church for several years and active for many more years. They taught craft classes and English as a Second Language classes.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Bessie Sappington, her brother Richard and wife Kathrine, her brother Jack and wife Marie, and her brother William (Bill), and her son David. She is survived by her husband, Wayne Clyma and two sons, Gary Clyma and Howard (Christy) Clyma, her sister-in-law Betty Sappington and Verona Clyma and many nieces and nephews.
