

Deane Dukes passed away Sunday December 4, 2016. Deane was born in Old Fort, Ohio, on April 15th, 1919 to Lloyd and Mary Dukes. She attended college, majoring in music (piano and organ) and administrative office work. Her love of the mountains and nature brought her to Colorado. She moved to Estes Park in 1954 for an administrative assistant position with the National Park Service at Rocky Mountain National Park. During her 25 year career she was with the Resource Management and Visitor Protection Division, as well as the Division of Interpretation. She retired in 1979 after a 25 year career with the National Park Service at Rocky Mountain National Park. During her tenure she was with the Resource Management and Visitor Protection Division, as well as the Division of Interpretation. After retiring she became interested in water aerobatics and began a water exercise class at the Aquatics Center that continues today. She was a volunteer for many years with both the Elizabeth Guild Thrift Shop and the Community Thrift Shop. Deane was an avid hiker and skier. She was intensely interested in nature photography in all its aspects. She was preceded in death by both parents, a brother, Noble Dukes, and a sister, Donna Dukes. A memorial service will be held Sunday December 11, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Good Samaritan Village In lieu of flowers a donation to a charity of your choice is appreciated.
