Mike had a wonderful smile and a great laugh. Growing up, it was easy to see his heart of gold. Mike was not one for sitting still. He liked to be active. During his early years he was very involved in sports, his favorite sport being soccer. He was also very talented, and loved to participate in plays. Being part of ACT (Adult Children's Theatre) in Lakewood, Mike participated in various performances, ranging from The King and I to A Christmas Carol.
His love for public speaking was discovered when he was asked to participate in storytelling events. In elementary school, Mike recited the poem "Sick" by Shel Silverstein. He used so much expression, it was a delight to watch him. He memorized and recited the story "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day" by Judith Viorst in a competition held at the university.
When Mike attended Green Mountain High School in Lakewood, he played the trumpet in the marching band. Mike graduated from Colorado State University, with a business degree. While at college, he participated in Master Peace, a Christian choir group on campus. After college, he earned his Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation and spent most of his career working in the financial industry.
The most important things in Michael's life, were when his two young sons, Adam and Jack, were born. He loved them very much. Michael was very interested in traveling, fishing, learning, and spending time at either the mountains or the beach.
Michael is going to be greatly missed, but there is comfort knowing he is with the Lord.
