Richard Frank ""Zeke"" Zimmerman of Fort Collins passed away in Loveland on Thursday, August 20, 2009, after a long bout with cancer. Zeke (as he was known to family and friends) was born on September 22, 1922 in Lefor, ND, to Joseph and Margaret (Seiler) Zimmerman. Richard was married to Betty Ann Higgs Zimmerman, who passed away in 2003. He was a veteran of WWII and served in the Army Air Corps in North Africa as an aircraft mechanic. Later he was employed by United Airlines and rose up through the company, attaining the rank of Captain. He ended his forty year career due to the mandatory cutoff of sixty years of age. During his employment with United, he flew various Boeing Aircraft. A Cryptside Service, conducted by B.C. Springer, will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
