Rita was born to Eugene and Viola (Radziewicz) Jozefowicz in Chicago, Illinois on June 28, 1943. She grew up in Chicago with her brothers, Edward, Victor, and Chester, and sister, Diane. After high school, she started her own family and was a homemaker most of her life. She married the love of her life, Robert “Smitty” Smith in Chicago on January 14th, 1978. Rita and Smitty had just celebrated 46 wonderful years together.
Rita was most happy when she was spending time with her family. She enjoyed cooking and baking, weekend dinners, and celebrating birthdays and holidays together. She was loving and kind. She was a good friend, always wanting to help wherever she was needed. Rita was a wonderful mother. She was a great cook who wanted to feed, not just her family, but anyone that stopped by the house. She loved her home and her family loved the home she created for them. It was a home to all of us. Rita loved her family and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and they adored her.
Rita, Grandma Rita, Busia, we all will cherish the memories of our life with you and when we reflect back, we will smile. You are forever in our hearts.
Rita leaves behind a beautiful legacy and will always be missed by her husband, Smitty; children, Glen McIntosh (Sandy), and Michael McIntosh (Deana); grandchildren, Jennifer McIntosh, Tami McIntosh (Nick Christenson), Alyxandra Milon (Kyle), Kristi Roth (Ronnie), and Annika McIntosh; twelve great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
