Robert "Smitty" Smith

Born in Chicago, Illinois on September 14, 1939, Smitty was the son of Robert C. and Lorraine G. Smith. He grew up in and around Chicago and finished high school before joining the US Navy. Smitty proudly served his country aboard the USS Yosemite during the Vietnam conflict era. Following his term of service, he began a career in Water Treatment and retired as Superintendent.

Smitty married the love of his life, Rita Rose Jozefowicz, in Chicago on January 14th, 1978. Rita and Smitty had just celebrated 46 wonderful years together at the time of her passing in 2024. Smitty was a father to four children, all of whom he loved dearly. He could be strict with his children, but was always fair. He was an honest man who worked hard all his life. Smith was trustworthy, kind, and funny. He was a simple sort of man who just didn't need that much in life other than the woman he loved by his side. In his leisure time, Smitty enjoyed bowling, fishing, reading, listening to music, and riding his motorcycle. He especially liked getting together with family and friends for BBQs and dinners together, and coaching little league. Smitty was a loving father, faithful husband, and a good friend. He will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his children Robyn Brewer, Ginger Smith, Glen McIntosh (Sandy), and Mike McIntosh (Deana); grandchildren Jake Brewer, Katherine, Erin, & Calvin Smith, Jennifer, Tami, & Alyx McIntosh, Kristi & Ronni Roth, and Annika McIntosh, and 13 great-grandchildren; as well as his sister Sandra Prichard (Ed), brother Jim Smith (Linda), sister-in-law Sherri Jozefowicz, and his dog, "Ice".

Smitty's Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Resthaven Funeral Home & Memory Gardens in Fort Collins, Colorado. Committal Services will follow and Smitty will be laid to rest beside his beloved Rita. Military Honors will be rendered in honor of his service to his country.
