Ronald Benedict McCrimmon Sr. was born March 13, 1939, in Philadelphia, PA to Jeremiah and Anna McCrimmon. Ron was the 6th out of 7 sons. When he was 10 years old, his father bought a 300-acre farm in Williamstown, New Jersey. A shop that was on the premises was turned into a family-run bakery and served many of the restaurants in the New Jersey area. His brothers raised chickens, which he helped with, and during a terrible storm hundreds of chickens were killed and they had to process them. That was when Ron’s hatred of chicken began. In 1955, at age 16, he decided he wanted to join the Marine Corps. He ended up having to bring the recruiter home so his parents could sign the consent forms. He went to boot camp in Parris Island, North Carolina. He loved the Marines and traveled to Puerto Rico, Haiti, and Panama by ship - which fostered his love of the ocean. He was full of many stories of the Marine Corps life. He earned sharpshooter medals and seemed to excel in all that he did. After his 6-year stint (2 years active, 4 years reserve) in the Marine Corps, he, his parents, and siblings went to Casper, Wyoming to visit his brothers living there and began working at Westridge Bakery. It was there that he met his future wife, Sharon Miller. They eloped in Harrison, NE on September 12, 1959. Shortly after, they moved back to Pennsylvania and worked at the family bakery, Danish Bakers, in Rockledge, PA. Throughout the years, they lived in many different states and embarked on many adventures. In 1971, he and his brother Gene opened and operated their own bakery in Hatboro, PA for a few years. He felt the gypsy travel urge again in 1975 and headed back to Wyoming. While in Wyoming, he worked as a baker, mechanic, milkman, dairy manager, Realtor, broker for Century 21 McCrimmon Realty, and developer of the first homes in Wardwell. In 1983, Ron and Sharon moved their family to Loveland, CO. In Colorado he worked as an extremely successful car salesman, a finance manager for Dellenbach and Markley motors as well as multiple other dealerships, and then decided to return to real estate through Coldwell Banker, The Group, Teles, Sotheby’s, Windermere, and opened and brokered McCrimmon Realty. He built homes in the Grasslands, Mariana Butte, Bonnell West, and Prairie Trails in Loveland as well as developed Matthews Farm and was an integral part in the building of the Make-A-Wish house in Berthoud. He enjoyed sales his entire life because he truly enjoyed working with people. He was very diplomatic in dealing with people both in the workplace and within his family. He watched his four sons build families of their own while simultaneously building two successful businesses: We Care Lawn Care, LLC. and Mac Equipment, Inc. He acted as an integral business advisor for them and was the tie-breaker vote on any matters necessary. He was also a proud grandfather (Papa) who loved coffee, silly jokes, a clean car, and had a laugh larger than life.
Ron was a man who dressed to the nines and wouldn’t be seen in public looking anything other than dapper. There are many memories where the family would be working in the yard, painting, or working on the cars and there would be a need to run to the store; at which time, Ron would go shower and put on a suit to head to K-Mart.
Ron adored his wife and loved his family fiercely. He will be sorely missed here on earth, but we are full of hope, because of Jesus, that Ron is with the Lord and that we will see him again in Glory.
He is preceded in death by his parents Jeremiah John Paul and Anna Regina (Clark) McCrimmon; brothers Jerry (Dorothy), Gene, Ramon (Dolores), and John.
He is survived by: his wife, Sharon; sons Ronald Jr. (Betsy), Christopher (Erin), John (Shelley), and Clifton (Heather); grandchildren Katie Sokolowski (Daniel), Troy, Tamiko Petersen, Cameron (Kate), Austin Southard (Lara), Hannah Kreimier (Sam), Courtney, Alayna, Hailie, Samantha, Abbie, Logan, and Jessie; great-grandchildren Anna, Sophia, Gracyn, and Quinn Sokolowski and Miles Southard; sister-in-laws, Betty and Maureen; and many, many, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, etc.
