Ruth Whitman

Born on October 10, 1936, in Fort Collins to Phillip and Rachel Jordan, Ruth was their only daughter and grew up with her brothers, Richard and Ralph Jordan. She graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1955 and soon after married her high school sweetheart, Rhinnie Whitman, on November 24, 1956. Their enduring marriage was a foundation of love and strength for their family.

Family was the center of Ruth’s life. She is survived by her daughter, Robin, and husband Russell Carter; her son, Randy Whitman; her brother, Ralph Jordan; and her grandchildren: Brianne Kraft and husband Jason (and their children Maison, Raelynn, and Zandra), Kelsey Moore (and her children Warren and Myla), and Gunnar Whitman and wife Steph.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rhinnie Whitman; her son, Riney Jay “RJ” Whitman; her brother, Richard Jordan; and her parents, Phillip and Rachel Jordan.

Ruth will be remembered for her warmth, strength, and quiet grace. Her love for her family, dedication to her work, and deep roots in the Fort Collins community leave a lasting legacy.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 9th at 1:30 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home in Fort Collins. Ruth will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at a later date, alongside her husband Rhinnie and beloved son Riney Jay “RJ”.
