Sharlet was beloved as a mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and sister-in-law. She was a dear friend to many. She will be fondly remembered for her kind heart and gentle nature.
Born in Missouri on November 3rd, 1935, Sharlet was the 8th child of Vesta (Duffell) and John Rue Lamb. She tragically lost her mother and twin brother in childbirth. Her father was later remarried to Lula Tedrick, who was a wonderful stepmother who gave Sharlet four younger sisters.
On October 16th, 1953, Sharlet married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Frank Sexton. The were wed in West Plains, Missouri and relocated to Fort Collins in 1958. Sharlet and Frank were blessed with five children: Danny, Debbie, Jeannie, Larry, and Joe. Sharlet was a wonderful mother. Frank was a truck driver and was often away from home. Sharlet stayed home with the kids and was proud to raise five responsible, hardworking, respected children. After 38 wonderful years together, Sharlet lost Frank in 1991. She never remarried.
After the death of her husband, Sharlet opened a home health care business. She was very hardworking and, for many years, cared for three Alzheimer's patients at all times. She loved her work and remained dedicated to those she cared for into her 70s, until she received her own Alzheimer's diagnosis in 2013. Sharlet was able to keep her calm, sweet personality throughout the progression of her disease. Nurses often commented on her sweetness and her willingness to continue to help others. She was often a source of comfort for her new roommates at the nursing home.
Sharlet's children were very involved in her life. They took her on many trips and vacations. With their help, she was able to remain in her home until 2022, when it was time to make the move to the nursing home. Her family visited often and continued to care for their dear mother and grandmother. Sharlet meant so much to her family. She will be dearly missed.
Sharlet leaves behind three children, Danny Sexton (Kathy), Jeannie McGaughey (Dusty), and Joe Sexton (Donna). She loved each and every one of her 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, and they loved her. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Sherry Thomas, and son-in-law Jack Cromer; her younger sisters, Cathy Huckaby, Lucy Greer, and Sharon Huckaby; and sisters-in-law Joyce Lemon and Gladys Sexton; as well as many, many nieces and nephews.
Along with her husband Frank, and the mother and brother she never met, Sharlet is reunited in eternal life with eight brothers and sisters, her son Larry Sexton, and her daughter Debbie Cromer.
A Memorial Service will be held for Sharlet on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at 3:30 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home in Fort Collins. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Pathways Hospice.
