Steve was born in Aberdeen, Scotland, growing up surrounded by his maternal Granny and Grandad, Aunt Irene and her husband Syd, and their three sons, Gerry, Roy and Gary. All being around the same age, we will never know just what all these boys got up to.
At age 13, Steve moved with his family to Kingwood, Texas and after only 10 months this ConocoPhillips expat family was on the move again to Indonesia, where Steve attended the American School in Jakarta. Steve loved his time there, making many lifetime friends from all over the world. During this time, he also welcomed his baby sister Erin, and quickly became her hero. On the move once again, it was back to Scotland, where Steve graduated high school at the American School in Aberdeen in 1988.
After graduation, Steve returned to the US and stayed with his Aunt Betsy for the summer in Denver, and then attended college at Fort Hays State University in Kansas for the first year, then onto Cheyenne, Wyoming where he attended Laramie County Community College.
In 1992, Steve began a summer job at Granite Canyon Quarry in Laramie and worked his way up from a haul truck driver, to Quality Control Manager, Plant Operator and later Purchasing. Most recently, he was the Sales Manager for Northern Colorado and Southern Wyoming.
Steve met the love of his life, Lesley Schano in Laramie, Wyoming and they married in Cheyenne. They were blessed with two loving and beautiful daughters, Alison born in 1994 and Emily born in 1998. Steve and his family relocated to Richmond, Virginia in 2001, and then returned to Fort Collins, Colorado in 2010 where Alison and Emily finished their education. There was never a moment where Steve was not there for his daughters who loved him more than anything.
Steve enjoyed vacationing with family and friends around the US, Scotland, London and Mexico. He was a car fanatic, and remained loyal to the Dallas Cowboys through their highs and lows. Everyone around him benefited from his fantastic taste in music and flawless air guitar solos. Steve showed us there’s nothing better than 80’s hair bands. He loved concerts at Red Rocks Amphitheater and loved rocking out at home with family, friends and pets. He loved all animals, and added Abby, Patches, Sadie and most recently Myla to the family. Steve was always eager to help others or share a joke, with his quick wit and unforgettable laugh.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Lesley, daughters Alison and Emily, sister Erin, parents Bill and Alison, as well as extended family and friends across the world. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Steve’s name to HeadsUpGuys https://headsupguys.org/donate-now/ Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.allnuttftcollins.com for the Boyington family.
