Theresa Bridget Winifred Lenahan

Theresa Lenahan, December 27, 1957 to October 15, 2018, beloved seventh child of John Joseph Lenahan, Jr. and Katherine Mary (Drabick) Lenahan of Hudson, New York passed in her host home on Monday, October 15, 2018. In Hudson, Theresa was a member of St. Mary’s Church, attended John L Edwards Elementary, and Hudson High School. She worked at COARC workshop in Mellenville, NY and volunteered with her mother for the St. Mary’s Altar Guild. Moving to Fort Collins in 1996, Theresa was a member of St. Joseph’s Church and worked at Foothills Gateway. With her love of dance and music and natural sense of rhythm, she was the inspiration for the 1989 founding of Dance Express, the inclusive dance company for persons with and without disabilities in Fort Collins. She was a member of the troupe from 1996 to 2010.

Theresa brought out the best in those she met in her many activities. She enjoyed swimming and bowling, and travel with her parents. Theresa’s simple joy for life endeared her to family, friends, and caretakers.

Theresa is survived by Katherine Curcio and her husband, Jim, of Steamboat, CO; Mary Elizabeth Lenahan, MS OT of Fort Collins, CO; John Michael Lenahan and his wife, Cathy, of Colonie, NY; and Patricia Lenahan of Durango, CO. She was a model of living with a positive attitude as the proud and loving aunt to nine nieces and nephews and great-aunt to twin grand-nephews and one grand-niece. She was preceded in death by her parents and by brothers, Patrick and Bill. Many thanks to St. Joseph’s Church and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church for Theresa’s spiritual care while on Hospice and to Abacus Care and Patty and Maria Hernandez and family for their loving care for Theresa since 2015.

Memorial contributions can be made in lieu of flowers to Dance Express (www.danceexpressfc.com), Foothills Gateway, or COARC. Allnutt Funeral Services- Drake Road Chapel hosts visitation from 4-6 with a memorial service at 6 p.m. on Friday, October 19, 2018.
