Tim was born in Tampa, Florida on June 24, 1961, to Peter James and Marlene (Sandal) Young. He was raised alongside his brother, Jason and his sister, Valori in Pierre, South Dakota. Growing up in the 70s, Tim enjoyed the simple pleasures of working with his dad, fishing and playing football. He loved his family, sports and a wide range of music, including rock n’ roll and disco. He graduated from TF Riggs High School and went on to study at the University of South Dakota. In 1983, Tim married his high school sweetheart in Pierre. He moved his wife and children around as a traveling salesman until the family settled back in Pierre, South Dakota. Later in life, Tim moved to Northern Colorado in 2003 to be closer to his children.
Tim was no stranger to hard work, having dedicated years to working with his family and for various businesses, including sales and distribution for everything from pharmaceuticals to coffee. He had a long career in Grocery Ordering and Logistics for Kroger. A man of Lutheran faith, Tim would occasionally attend church and was a long-standing member of the North American Fishing Club. He enjoyed fishing, watching car races, airshows and being outdoors with his children. He also enjoyed traveling and photography, appreciating the natural beauty that surrounded him on his various trips. When he was home between jobs, he loved building model airplanes, dining at local cuisines and watching television.
He joyously became a father for the first time when Christopher came along in 1984. His daughter, Mikayla, was born 10 years later in 1994, his son Severn in 1997 and the youngest daughter, Amber in 2006. Tim was a proud and supportive father, always present at his children’s sporting events, graduations and major life events. He was a giving father, always doing what he could to ensure they were loved and supported. Tim adored his children dearly.
Those who knew Tim found him to be personable and approachable, with an infectious smile. He was easygoing and lighthearted, with a tremendous sense of humor that always brought smiles to others. Kind and generous, he brought so much joy into the lives of those around him.
Tim’s absence is already felt very deeply by those who love him. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be dearly missed by his children, Christopher James Young, Mikayla Ann Young, Severn Richard Young and Amber Nicole Sanchez; his grandson, Foster James Johnson Young; his brother, Jason Young and his sister, Valori Young; as well as his King Soopers Family, close friends and other extended family.
Services will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home & Memory Gardens in Fort Collins. An Evening Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Tim's Celebration of Life will take place Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at 2:00 PM followed by a Burial Service at 3:00 PM.
