

Dr. Warren Leigh Trock, 82, of Fort Collins, Colorado passed away July 15, 2008, at Poudre Valley Hospital in Ft. Collins.Warren was born June 30, 1926 in Pratt, Kansas to Elmer and Lottie Trock. The older of two boys, he was reared and attended school in Coats, Kansas, a small town near Pratt in South Central Kansas.Like many other young men his age, Warren was drafted into the Army to serve overseas in World War II. After completing a tour of duty in Germany and France, the war ended and Warren joined a swing band to help entertain troops as they waited for transportation home. After coming home from Europe, Warren dated and then married Bette Jene Sloan on August 14, 1949.Warren continued his pursuit of higher education, attending Kansas State University, earning his Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture and Economics. His studies were interrupted when he was called to serve in the Korean War. When the war was over, he returned to complete his Master's Degree in Agricultural Economics. He completed his formal education and earned his PhD in Natural Resources from Montana State University. He was a dedicated educator in the fields of Natural Resources, Agricultural Economics, Farm Management and Agricultural Policy. His teaching and research work led him around the US and the world, with extended trips to China, Pakistan and a six month sabbatical in England with his wife Bette. His teaching and policy work earned him many awards, among them the R.J. Hildreth award for Career Achievement in Public Policy Education, and a twenty year achievement award from Colorado State University, where he retired after 22 years of rewarding and fulfilling work.He never lost his love for music and after retirement he served on the board of the Traditional Jazz Society of Ft. Collins and was actively involved supporting the Poudre River Irregulars. Pastimes also included playing pool and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Bette Trock of Ft. Collins, Colorado; his son, Danny (Suzi) Trock of Benton, Arkansas; his daughter Rebecca (Bengt Lundahl) Trock of Helsingborg, Sweden; his son David (Kim) Trock of Loveland, Colorado and his brother, Merlin (Mary) Trock of Hutchinson, Kansas and their 2 daughters, Debbie and Marla. Grandchildren include: Greg (Stina) Trock of Milliken, Colorado; Rebekah (Jon) McCarver of Frederick, Colorado; Laurenn (Josh) McCarver of Benton, Arkansas and Alex and Anton Trock Lundahl of Helsingborg, Sweden and 4 great grandchildren.Memorial services will be held locally at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 8426 S. Highway 287, Ft. Collins, Colorado on Saturday July 26th, 2008 at 2:00 p.m., with a reception following. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to The Michael J.
