Betty Louise Phillips

On August 2nd a special lady was called home. Betty Phillips was born August 6, 1922, in Harper, Kansas. She was the youngest of nine children born to Curtis Wisler and Getta Teeter. Raised on a farm, she moved to Wichita, Kansas in her teens and graduated from East High School. After World War II she married and raised a family. The family moved to Orange County in 1960, and as her three children got older, she returned to the work force. She worked for sixteen years as a secretary at Anaheim High School, retiring at the age of 59. She then spent 12 years working for Insight for Living where she made lifelong friendships, retiring again at age 74.

Betty was a woman of faith and attended Eastside Christian Church for 45 years. She enjoyed traveling through the United States visiting friends and relatives. She loved bowling, bingo, and bunco. She bowled until she was 90 years old and reveled in beating her young grandsons because she was very competitive. Betty was an original member of Bunco Babes, which has been together for 26 years.

Betty passed away four days shy of her 99th birthday. She was predeceased by her youngest child, Bonnie Lorenger, who died in 2018. She is survived by her 103-year-old sister, Lois Wisler, her two children, Becca Feeney-Kurtz and Danny Phillips, 2 sons-in-law, Rob Kurtz and Dan Schulz, 8 grandchildren, Coreen Kremer, Shannon Francis, Shawn Feeney, Adam Phillips, Jamie Phillips, Matthew Lorenger-Schulz, Janae Sasi, Ryan Schulz, and spouses, 12 great grandchildren, Tigerlily Francis, Luna Feeney, Blake Phillips, Jaden Bushberger, Mavrick Lahiff, Brody Bushberger, Cash Phillips, Oliver Hannon, Aspen Schulz, Oaklee Schulz, Mattias Kremer, Flynn Kremer, and she will be missed by many more.
