David Patrick Inghram passed suddenly on Sunday June 9, 2024 at age 56 - leaving a gaping hole in the lives of his family and friends. David was born in Blythe on July 25, 1967. He was the oldest of six and the son of James and Yolanda Inghram.
David had a keen mind, was meticulous in many facets of his life, was a voracious reader and loved sports. He was especially fond of the Dodgers, Raiders, Kings, Lakers and UCLA basketball and football.
David graduated from Palo Verde High School in 1985 and started at UCLA that fall. He earned a degree in Finance from Cal State San Bernardino in 1992.
He started his professional career with the San Bernardino Unified school district, but soon took a job with Toyota Finance in Brea. In 2002, he started at State Compensation Insurance Fund where he worked until his passing. At SCIF, he made numerous friends and was a respected colleague. He retained numerous friends from his days at Toyota, as well.
David's academic strengths appeared early. He earned almost exclusively A's throughout elementary school and in sixth grade he was runner up for top math student in all of Riverside County at the Riverside County Math Olympics. Quite a feat for someone coming from Blythe.
In his youth, David was a pretty good athlete. He played little league baseball, basketball and flag football through eighth grade. He made all stars in basketball and flag football. In high school, David graduated in the top 10 of his class. He ran cross country for a year, played basketball for two and was on the golf team as a senior. He continued playing golf throughout his life - if not very well.
David was a master at numbers, especially sports statistics. Decades before sabermetrics were introduced to baseball, David was analyzing the numbers for trends and statistical anomalies. From the time he could read, David would ritually go over the box scores from the daily newspaper and keep a daily updated tally on the Dodgers roster. He couldn't wait for the Sunday paper to compare his stats to the updated MLB stats. It matched every time - unless the newspaper made a mistake.
David was the statistician for multiple levels of little league and the high school baseball, basketball and football teams, starting before he was 10. He was featured in the local paper for his numerical prowess of
sports at such a young age.
David was fairly private and it was not easy to crack his personal exterior. If you did, however, he was very loyal and would do anything for you. But you had to ask, he wouldn't just offer. David never came
out and said he truly cared about you. But he had his own clever ways to let you know he did.
His recall of books and authors was uncanny. In some years, David said he read over 100 books.
One of David's favorite things to do was to attend live sporting events - especially at Dodger Stadium, the Rose Bowl, Pauley Pavilion, Crypto.com Arena and Santa Anita Race Track. He made annual treks
to Arizona for spring training and would take trips around the nation to see the Dodgers - including visits to Baltimore, Chicago, Cincinnati, St. Louis and more. He was planning trips to Atlanta and Denver later this summer.
He also drove to far-flung locales like Salt Lake City, Tucson and El Paso to see UCLA compete.
In the final decade of his life nothing gave David more joy than taking his nephew Aaron along for the ride to whatever sporting events they could attend together. He was dedicated to picking up as many
collectible items as he could for Aaron and teaching Aaron about the history of the teams they had a shared passion. Watching and recording Aaron playing baseball was everything to David. It was safe
to say, Aaron was David's favorite person in the last fifth of his life.
David is survived by his parents James and Yolanda Inghram of Anaheim Hills. Three sisters, Kristen Aguilar and Leslie Inghram of McKinney, Texas and Samantha Faudoa of Anaheim Hills. Two brothers, Jim Inghram of San Juan Capistrano and William Inghram of Irvine. Brother-in-laws, Kevin Faudoa of Anaheim Hills and Luis Aguilar of McKinney, Texas. Sister-in-law, Kristen Inghram of Irvine. Nephews, Aaron Faudoa and Liam Inghram Nieces, Gloria Aguilar, Isabella Inghram and Sienna Inghram.
A memorial mass for David will be held Monday, June 24, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at San Antonio de Padua del Cañon Church, 5800 E. Santa Ana Rd., Anaheim, CA 92807.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in David's memory may be made to Cats of San Bernardino (Rescue), PO Box 3025, San Bernardino, California 92413 US.
