Well known local equestrian woman, Ellen Winkelmann Scheffers died Saturday, July 31st, 2010 as a result of a malignant melanoma. Although her accomplishments in the business and horse world were many, she was most proud of her work in recent years teaching riding and sharing her love of horses with children, who affectionately referred to her as Miss Ellen . Ellen leaves behind a grieving family, her Mother, Gloria Winkelmann, brother Robert and Ellens long time boyfriend, Chris Tucker, as well as many friends, both in Texas and California. A Memorial Reception will be held in the garden of her brothers home on Saturday, August 21st, 2010 at 5:p.m. A private service has been planned for Ellen to be interred with her Father, Robert David Winkelmann in Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in California. A second Memorial in Texas will be scheduled at a later date. The family requests donations be made in Ellens name, to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, in lieu of flowers.
