

George was born February 22, 1942 to Alfred and Mary Stapleton from Peoria, Illinois. George enjoyed telling stories, football and baseball. He spent most of his weekends reading, gardening and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Besides spending time with his family and friends, George had a passion for traveling, solving puzzles and watching sporting events. George had a bright and energetic personality and was known for his ability to sense when people needed help. He touched many lives with his generosity and passion for life.
George attended Manual High School and later in life graduated from Tustin High School. He enjoyed a life-long military career achieving highest rank of Sgt Major and then finally retiring after working for the Saddleback Valley Unified School District.
Survivors include his 3 sons, David Belcher of Bowie, George Stapleton Jr. of Denver and Paul Stapleton of Atlanta. 3 daughters Lisa Johnson of Baltimore, Shirl Williams of Chandler and Rita Farris of Rancho Cucamonga; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life gathering on Wednesday March 20th anytime between 4-8 pm at McAulay & Wallace Mortuaries, 902 N. Harbor Blvd, Fullerton, CA 92832. Burial will follow at 12 pm, Thursday, March 21 at Riverside National Cemetery 22495 Van Buren Blvd, Riverside, CA 92518.
