Gertrude Marie Ahearn

Our beloved Trudi passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2011. She was born on December 19, 1918 in Cambridge, Massachusetts to Frank and Flora McDermott. The eldest of a family of 7 brothers and sisters, one loving sister remains, Gerry Knowlton who enjoys life to the fullest in Cape Cod.She will be deeply missed by her loving children Maureen in Yorba Linda, California and Gregory in Jacksonville, Florida to whom Trudi was their best friend and guiding light. Her husband of 55 years, William Francis Ahearn, a Veteran of WW II, had passed away in November, 2000.Trudi earned a B.Sc. From Regis College after graduating from Marycliff Academy in Arlington Heights, Mass in 1936. The Nuns imparted high moral standards and a love and respect for others. She was a member of the Stigmatic Fathers and Brothers of Waltham, Mass and was honored with an A.M.D.G. Diploma by the Sodality of Our Blessed Lady. Of Irish heritage, anyone who got to know Trudi could not help but love her. She never once complained even after 3 years of increasingly debilitating medical problems. After saying goodbye, she always reminded us to Take Care of Each Other. Thank you Trudi, you will be in our hearts forever. Trudi and William will be laid to rest together at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, San Diego.
