Harry George Philipp of Yorba Linda, California passed away on November 21, 2024, after a long illness. Harry was born in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1944. As a young boy, the Philipp family moved to California, where he attended Hawthorne High School. Harry went by many names: Harry, George, Georgie (His mom called him this), but most of his friends and family called him Joe.
Harry was a proud veteran serving in the U.S. Army and jumping out of airplanes. He earned a parachute badge and the National Defense Service Medal.
Joe married his childhood sweetheart Stella in 1967. They moved to Yorba Linda and raised three children. He worked in the grocery industry and retired in 2016. He took up golf again and took on a part time job as marshall at Los Serranos Golf Club.
Affectionately known as Joe by his family and closest friends, he had a great passion for cars, golf, and the Los Angeles Rams. Joe was a man of fairness and integrity and left an impact on many who knew him. He was a loving husband and a devoted and loving father to his three children, Sean, Shannon, and Shane, who dearly miss his guidance and the stories he loved to tell about his wild days growing up in Southern California.
Harry is survived by his wife, three children, and two grandchildren.
