

Irene Ethel King, affectionately known as "Nani" to her loved ones, returned to heaven on April 27, 2024, at the age of 86 surrounded by loved ones. Born on August 15th, 1937, in Algodones, NM, Irene later moved to California as a young lady, where she resided until her passing.
Irene is survived by her kindhearted sisters Annabelle and Betty. She found lifelong love in her marriage of 66 years to Henry Ruiz King, and was a devoted mother to her loving sons, Henry Ignacio and Gary Roy. She was a doting grandmother or better called, "Nani", she adored her warmhearted grandchildren Nicole, Kaila, and Riley. Her nurturing spirit extended way beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of many as a marvelous friend and “Nani” to all who had the pleasure to know her. She was preceded by her beloved grandmother Marianna Miera and her cherished parents Emma and Ignacio "Nacho" Corella.
Irene's vibrant personality was reflected in her diverse interests and passions. She found joy in dancing with her husband, cutting hair, waterskiing, and of course, indulging in retail therapy at the mall. She was also the president and founder of “The Roulettes” car club. She will be remembered for her impeccable style and grace, always looking fabulous no matter the occasion. Her faith was central to her life, as she found solace in living according to God's will and attending church regularly. She found fulfillment in cooking, doing things precisely the way she wanted, and offering guidance with her trademark sense of humor, even when it may have been unexpected.
She was fiercely herself with a heart of gold, a natural born leader whose unwavering love and care made her an extraordinary matriarch, leaving a legacy of compassion and strength.
Irene's journey was marked by her talents and entrepreneurship. She excelled as a beautician, and became a successful business owner with the love of her life, Henry for many years. Caring for others was central to who she was, professionally and personally. Her skills and passion for her work left a lasting impact on those she served, forming friendships for life that became family.
A Rosary will be held in Irene's honor on Monday, May 20th, from 6-8pm at McAulay and Wallace Mortuary, located at 902 N. Harbor Blvd, Fullerton, CA 92832.
The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, May 21st, from 12pm-2pm at St. Angela Merici's, located at 585 S Walnut Ave, Brea, CA 92821; followed by her Burial Ceremony at Loma Vista Memorial Park, located at 701 E. Bastanchury Road, Fullerton, CA 92835.
Irene King will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, laughter, kindness and strength will continue to inspire and uplift those whose lives she touched.
