After a courageous nine-year battle with neuro-endocrine pancreatic cancer, our warrior superwoman, Karen Michelle (Eckenrode) Delaney, of Yorba Linda passed away peacefully with her family around her. Born and raised in Placentia, and daughter of Norm and Carole Eckenrode, Karen graduated from Valencia High School (Class of 1993) and received two degrees from Chapman University. She was an exceptional math educator who taught at Orange Unified and Fullerton Joint Union High School District over the last twenty years. Karen loved her students and helped form “Pride-By-Side,” a group to mentor and connect her students at Buena Park High School. Karen met and married her husband, Robert Delaney, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church 19 years ago. They both performed in the church band. Karen leaves behind three beautiful children – Ian, James, and Katie, as well as her loving parents, and her sisters, Robin Saouma, and Julie Toledo. She also leaves behind a loving extended family of brothers- and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins that will miss her greatly. The Rosary Vigil will be at McAulay & Wallace in Fullerton on Thursday at 7pm. Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 1 at 11am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Placentia. Graveside services immediately following at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Orange. We are grateful for Karen’s 42 years on this earth and the courageous, loving, strong example she showed so many that all of our lives have purpose. Karen we love you and know that you are with The Lord.
