Kim was born in San Mateo and raised in Napa, California. She grew up with her brother, Stevie, and her sister, Carolynn under the care of her loving mother and father, Antoinette and George Manyik. She later went on to study mechanical engineering at California State University, Fullerton. Kim worked as an engineer for 17 years before she decided to retire to spend more time with her growing daughters, Nicole and Kelly, and her dedicated husband, Roy. Though not practicing engineering, she applied her analytical mind and strict attention to detail to her new passions of sewing, quilting, and knitting. Kim delighted in spending time in her garden, and caring for her birds and butterflies. Kim also dedicated the last 15 years to caring for her elderly mother and Aunt Nonnie, meticulously managing their affairs. After their passing, she took on the duty of ensuring their wishes with the utmost integrity. In the last three years she was blessed with two grandsons, Theodore and Zachary, whom she loved endlessly and who brought her continuous joy. Kim is perhaps best remembered by her giving spirit and generosity, which she shared with all she encountered. She showed her love through gifts and by investing herself in uniquely personalized projects that could only come from her. She had a special ability to anticipate the needs of others and, as a result, people knew they could count on Kim to always be there. The loss of Kim will be felt by many, but her spirit and memory will continue to live on through all of those who knew and loved her. A memorial service will be held in Kim’s honor October 7, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Calvary Chapel Anaheim (270 E. Palais Rd. Anaheim, CA 92805). Any donations can be made in her name to Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC).
