I do not know what to say. I never knew this man personally, or knew him very much indirectly, but he was such a joy to be around as I see it. Goodbye, white knight.

Dear Klaus, Your funny, thoughtful and gracious comments on HFW words (PedanticKarl!) will be sorely missed. I wish we had the chance to organzie a HFW fan club breakfast at Blujam! I perfectly remember his nickname and I also noticed he was really a frequent visitor and made a lot of comments on hotforwords. Right now September 06 2010 at midnight France Time I read the article about his death. I had myself a stroke in 2007 and I am still alive but one day or another it will be my turn. I will be happy if somebody remember me and for that reason I will remember Klaus G. Herzog and his nickname PedanticKarl. This nickname is fantastic because it is easy to remember. I do believe that there is something beyond this world, call it as you wish but PedanticKarl is not dead. Maybe his name will be forgotten, maybe he will be forgotten as a person, but in this very moment who knows if he is not born again in this world or in another dimension. Don't be too sad ! You can cry because tears are good for washing our souls, but deep inside be convinced that he is not really dead, he is somewhere in a place where we maybe will find him again one day.

Karl (Klaus) was a very good man. I will remember his intelligence, kindness, and extraordinary willingness to help in depth (without even asking) as a standard of exceptional human character by which all others would be lucky to compare. Rest well PK. Thanks again for all the time and answers you offered in our brief exchanges. You will be missed. :) - A -

I would like to say that there are somethings in life that are difficult to understand, and even harder to let go. Hurt sometimes is easier to bear with those who are not family, but have become friends with. His family I believe must have always been in his heart. You can tell by the way he treated his friends. Sometimes it is this way with some of us. God bless all of you here too for allowing someone like Klaus to be what he desired to be. Just me here, what I observed.

I was acquainted online with Klaus as the moderator and "teacher's aid" for HotForWords, a website for the study of words and language. In addition to providing valuable technical support, Klaus brought out the best in the "students," those who came to chat on the site, and helped smooth over the occasional frictions between them.

My feelings for Karl go much deeper than my words could convey.So I will send my heartfelt condolences, to all that he touched, in unfortunatly such a short period of time. B.B.

I knew Klaus only via the Internet, but that was enough to experience how generous, helpful and noble he was. He always trusted in people and their good intentions and rushed to their aid. I am deeply saddened by his death. Dear Klaus, may God bless you and your family during this time and always.

Several things that I really appreciated about Klaus. The first is how ready and willing he was to help anybody. On the HFW site especially (and on a few other sites we shared) he seemed truly to gain pleasure just by helping someone out. Klaus was always quick to find something positive to say; he was a master at spreading good ju-ju. Even behind the online anonymity, Klaus consistently tried to spread goodwill - a rare trait these days. In this ether world that we knew each other, Klaus was one of the very few people who always seemed very real. Whenever I would talk to Klaus, I always knew that a genuine, caring person was on the other end of the computer. God Bless you, Klaus. Peace to you and all your loved ones.

It was a beautiful memorial to Klaus,one of my best and like minded friend. "Wehmut" is what I felt when I heard about you I had the best laughs with you! I will grieve having you not around. Joy be with you always Klaus wherever you are. Nameste!

Although I met him online via HotForWords website and twitter, Klaus was a very kind and generous person. He was always willing to help and try to keep the peace among members on HFW. I know a little about his personal life among his relatives but he was always kind to me. I wish I could've met him in person. He will be missed. :'( My condolences go out to his Family and friends. My deepest sympathies go out to Klaus' family. I only knew him as PedanticKarl at Marina Orlova's website. He consistently exhibited the qualities of a true gentleman and a helpful spirit on the forum. We will miss his contributions to the discussions of words and culture.

Klaus was one of the most special persons I've ever known. He was there for me through hard times and good times and he was so generous with his time and knowledge, never asking for anything in return. Klaus did everything in his power to make people happy, even when he didn't know them. He welcomed people to my community and went out of his way to make sure these people were taken care of. It was because of Klaus that I was able to build an amazing and loving community. Even though I never met Klaus in person, but only virtually, I truly felt like he was part of my family. And, because I communicated with him in the virtual sense, I still feel that his presence is still with me and with us, because, in this virtual world, he has left behind images and words for us, and the rest of the world, to enjoy for years to come! Klaus was a very bright, cheerful, and kind man. He hired me and gave me my first job at a small Santa Ana company when I got out of the Navy in the early 1980's. He was also my mentor and taught me a lot about electronics and computers. But most of all, Klaus was a dear friend of mine. I will miss him a lot.
