She was born in Long Beach, on October 17, 1954. She grew up in Bellflower, California, graduated from Mayfair High School (72), and went to Bryman College where she became a dental assistant. She met the love of her life assisting a new young dentist, John DeMaio and the rest is history. They lived in Arcadia for a few years, started a family, and moved to Fullerton in the early 80s. She was a homemaker, who while raising four children, often helped in the classroom, cheered at baseball games and dance competitions, and was often the carpool driver of the infamous “DeMaios” suburban.
She worked alongside many wonderful friends she met along the way volunteering for organizations and charities such as Laguna Road Elementary PTA, Golden Hill Little League, Scouting, The Dance Spot, Servite high school, Assistance League of Fullerton, National Charity League, as well as countless other charities of Fullerton.
Her interests were as wide and bright as her smile, always up to make anything a good time. She was a great listener and an even better talker. She loved to dance, always up for a great laugh, and had a warm disposition. She was a friend to everyone and an inspiration to all.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Dr. John Thomas DeMaio (Fullerton); her brother Bruce & Robin Rickert (Hemet); her children, John DeMaio II (Woodland Hills); Antonio & Danielle DeMaio (Anaheim); Christina (DeMaio) & Matthew McManus (San Clemente); and five grandchildren Tyler Thomas DeMaio, Nolan Joseph DeMaio, Gavin Michael McManus, Colin James McManus, and Jessica Marie McManus.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to: American Stroke Foundation in Memory of Lisa Marie DeMaio to empower stroke survivors and their families to overcome the challenges of life after stroke. https://americanstroke.org/
