

Lois was born at home in Bowbells, North Dakota to Elmer and Laura (Grellong) Smith. After Lois’ birth they moved to Larson, North Dakota. Due to Elmer’s railroad work they moved frequently. In 1939 Lois’s brother, Elmer David Smith was born in Power’s Lake, North Dakota.
The Smiths moved to Minot, North Dakota so Lois could go to high school and she graduated in 1945. Lois married Herbert Haider (from Burlington, North Dakota) in 1946, in Minot, North Dakota. They lived in Long Beach, CA, while Herb was in the Navy. Lois and Herb’s children: Sandi (Les) Bidewell, Acheson, AB, Herbert Terry (Teri) Haider, Pinon Hills, CA, and Ron (Patti) Haider, Franklin, CT. Lois leaves 7 grandchildren: Robert, Brandon, Justin and Garrett Bidewell, Shana Nelson, Carisa Workman, and Amber Barlund. She included as family, Glen and Paula Galey, of Pomona, CA, their 2 children: Brad Galey and Julie Behee. In addition to 3 nephews. Lois was preceded in death by her parents Elmer (1980), Laura (1990), grandson Donovan Bidewell (1997), and brother Davis Smith (2015).
While Lois was raised in a professing home, she did not make the gospel her own until 1955 when she met God’s servants Therold Sylvester and John Magelssen, in Los Angeles. After Long Beach, she and Herb moved to Los Angeles for a few years before moving to Anaheim in 1956. Lois worked 7 years as a project manager for a company building mobile home parks. Lois was a successful realtor in Orange County from 1971 – 2016. Her mother, Laura, lived with her the last few years of her life. Lois loved to travel: to visit her grandchildren from California to Alberta, special friends in Hawaii, and many excursions including Alaska and Ireland. Remembrances, “Lois overcame many obstacles in her life and truly loved her family and God.” “Her last days were her best.”
