As a young boy, eyes sparkling with mischief, Prateek was bright and curious. At the age of 8, he moved with his family to Orange County, CA.
He spent his formative years putting down roots in this new country, using his athletic prowess to excel in swimming and varsity tennis. His brightness and curiosity never waned. In 6th grade he received the President’s Education Award, and again when he graduated high school in 2009, receiving certificates signed by Presidents George W Bush and Barack Obama, respectively. He was 1 of 100 students recognized for their high potential to attend the Pennsylvania Governor’s School of the Sciences at University of Pittsburgh. Prateek went on to earn his Undergraduate degree in Biology at Penn State University.
As a young man, Prateek was thoughtful, and hysterically funny, with a sardonic streak. He dressed sharply, in the tradition of his father, who passed in 2008. He enjoyed the finer things in life as much as he loved to spend time with his friends. Unsurprisingly, this engaging young man was the life of every party.
After college, Prateek found work in Supply Chain Management, in multiple industries across the country. He worked in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, and back in his home state of California. He last landed in Carson City, Nevada, and moved in with close friends. He was excited to start a new job in a new city among familiar friends, which was set to begin days after his sudden passing.
Prateek deeply loved his friends and family. The gift of his love brought his playful irreverence and mischief carried with him from his younger days. His bone crushing embraces revealed that beneath his impish charm was a deep well of love and warmth. His sharp wit often summoned hysterics from all those fortunate enough to be part of his life.
3 weeks from his 30th birthday, at 3:55 PM on April 17th 2021, Prateek Dhar moved on from this life. He breathed his last in Salt Lake City Utah, having suffered from catastrophic brain injuries sustained through accidental food aspiration and resulting oxygen deprivation.
Prateek is survived by his heartbroken family; his mother Paramita and his older sister Pooja, and a massive extended family who love him dearly and will forever hold in their hearts his exuberant spirit. We pray that he has passed on into the peaceful embrace of those loved ones who have passed before.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 3:00 PM at McAulay & Wallace Mortuary 902 N. Harbor Blvd, Fullerton, 92832. Services may also be viewed at: https://view.oneroomstreaming.com/ email: [email protected], Password: LGGPIB
