Sam was a loving crazy guy that cared for his family. He worked  hard and loved his sports. As his son in law it was a joy to be with him. We will always  miss the wild thing. Greg Perez

Sam, you and Bernice were loyal members of PNA Lodge #3193 & #3168 for years.  You were always available to help and gave 200% all the time.  You smile and "words of wisdom" will be missed.  I hope you and Bernice are having a polka for us in heaven as you deserve it.

My dearest, Sammi and Samuel, There are many moments that come to mind for me of your father.  Not just because he has passed away but, because of what he brought to my childhood and my adulthood, as well.As one of many grandchildren, we all came together for yearly holidays at our grandparents' home  Christmas, Easter and, likely anniversaries and birthdays of all sorts.  As always, I remember Uncle Sam as the life of the party.  His burst of energy upon entering the room, wherever he was, sent sparks flying from his warm hugs, his ear- to - ear smile and that amazing lilt in his step.  Afterall he was a Dancer  a Dancer throughout his life and his love for Bernice, love of life and his immeasurable love for you, his children.Like the Gene Kelly of our family  a true romantic and good time Charlie.  Laughing and smiling, twirling me across the floor, slipping chocolate into my hand.  Always a surprise, always full of joy.  I remember seeing my mother light up whenever he was around.  Of all the boys in her family, Sam was her favorite brother and remained so until she passed away.  He called her religiously every Sunday afternoon and they would spend hours on the phone together talking about their lives and families.  He always made her feel so loved and special .The suave, dashing Uncle Sam  sporting his best attire and shoes.  Even a pinky ring!  No one in our family wore a pinky ring or drove a Cadillac!  Ever stylin' , ever dancin'  our Uncle Sam.  We'd all flock around him.  OUR favorite and very special, Uncle Sam.  All of us would watch for his arrival at the house.  The snazzy car and the dapper man.  He was never boastful, never self absorbed  just a very happy man.  Always a grateful man.  His success and happiness was completely wrapped up in his ability to make people smile and the sharing of his love for his family.   When I was 13, I was invited to stay with your family in Fullerton in the summer of 63.   A young father, a self-employed man, working hard.  Still he made time to make me feel special.  Being there was such a treat!  Sam would leave very early in the morning only to return every evening with treats in hand for everyone candy or ice cream.  Always special days at your house.  Aunt Bernice was his dream girl.  He'd squeeze you, Sammi, then dance with your mother around the kitchen as happy as could be.  No tired man coming home to your house.He told your mom to take me shopping for a bathing suit.  She bought me my first two piece bathing suit  bought in southern California!  Starry eyed was I.  I still have a photo of myself in your back yard where he lived all these years with that suit on.I stayed up late when you children had gone to bed and visited with your parents.  It was so special to be treated with such singular adult respect.  At the age of 13, this was something.Many years ago, your dad scooped me up onto the dance floor at my nephew's, Mark, wedding.   Dancing my feet off  working up such a sweat, I thought he would pass out.  Not for this veteran of dancing and partying!  He danced til he couldn't dance anymore.  .  He not only wore me out but, kept going with others!  I will never forget that night as long as I live.  His energy just never stopped.  He was never just a good dad or just a good uncle  he was an amazing dad and uncle.  Memorable in every way.  He had stories filled with details about working on the farm as a child, being in the Navy and running his landscape business, all the while moving toward bettering his life for his Bernice and you children.  He was a self-made success, a religious man, devoted husband and father and inspiration to us all.   Full of life, full of love and laughteralways ready for a dance.My stories and memories about your father, my Uncle Sam, are firmly planted in my heart.  I was fortunate to be his niece and at times, just for a glorious moment or two, the apple of his eye.  I see him dancing away the hours with your mother and, at times, twirling my mother on the dance floor talking away the afternoons as they had so many days gone by.   We loved him well.  He was my Uncle Sam  he was a Dancer.

Daddy,  I know you wanted to stay here with us. There was more fun to have and love to share.  The time we shared together will always make me smile, laugh and even shake my head because you would be the one having the most fun.  You inspired all of us, encouraged us and celebrated us. Oh we will miss you. You made our lives a party.   Love you the mostest, Dee
