My heart was deeply saddened by the loss of this bright light. Ayo was a joy to work with, and we will always remember him and his pleasant manner and work ethic.

I am so sorry to learn of Ayo's passing. I remember working with him at NIH. He was so kind and welcoming, I'll always remember his smile. Rest in peace, may his memory be a blessing to his family and friends.

Words cannot express my sadness upon learning about Ayo's passing. Our friendship spanned decades, beginning during our days as secondary school kids in St. John’s College in Lagos where we became fast friends. We were part of a small group that learned together and played together. Ayo left St. John’s and Nigeria before we finished secondary school, and during a time of great societal foment. I sorely missed the stability that his friendship represented. I was determined to reconnect with him even though he then lived a world away, and his exact location was unknown to me. These were the days of the dial up phone after all. 

Fate would reunite us more than a decade later in the United States. Ayo was exactly as graceful, joyous, and wonderful as I imagined that he’d be. We picked up our friendship where we left off and stayed in touch ever since, helped in part by the fact that our careers were now adjacent to one another. The last conversation I had with Ayo was in August, so it was a big shock when I heard that he had passed. 

As his family and loved ones process this grief, my prayers are with them and I would like to add a note to the celebration of his life. Ayo was a beautiful person that left an indelible impact on the world around him. One look or encounter with him, and you knew, as the Yoruba would say, that he came from a good home. His radiant and guileless smile told you that everything would be alright, and his calm and analytical mind made you feel like every problem had a solution. I am a better man for having met him. I will never forget you. Rest in peace in the Lord, brother.

Rest in peace and rise in glory Ayo! May all the dear memories you made bring peace to your family.

Ayodeji, your passing leaves a void in our hearts that words cannot truly capture, yet. May you rest in peace.

You arrived at the right time, and instantly became the glue that not only bound your nuclear family together, but also set it on a new course for the better. In your early years, you peppered adults with questions that made some wonder the source of your wisdom. Because of how smart you were, so much was expected of you. This is the reason why I frequently checked on your progress through your mum and dad, hoping that I would have the privilege to meet you again and throw back to you, some of those difficult questions you asked as a kid. Unfortunately that opportunity never came, because the Good Lord chose to recall you early, in our collective best interest. All we can say is “The Lord Gave, and He Has Taken Away……..”. May you find a resting place in His bosom. Fare thee well, Ayo.

I am so sorry to hear about Ayo’s passing! Randomly last week I thought to ask mutual friends how he was… but didn’t realize he was ill. Ayo and I went to UMD together and our friends often inter mingled on campus outside of class. The above description fits Ayo perfectly. He has a tight knit group of friends that, all great guys, and always ready for the next party or hang out. Ayo was there, Mr Cool, Calm and Collected taking it all is with a witty comment and always with a big bright smile and positive attitude. May his light continue to shine down on us and his memory live in on those of us who had the pleasure of knowing him. Ayo Ayo. 

I’m still confused as to your demise. I have watched you grow up from Surulere to Maryland to a fine young gentleman with so much promise. 

From high school to the University of Maryland, selecting your classes and making sure you had a plan. When I had my first child, you came by and drew bugs bunny and fling-stone on the wall for the baby boy room. You were very good in drawing which I never knew. The height of your happiness came at your wedding at the Newton White Mansion. You smiled and smiled. You were soooo happy. 

But Jesus Christ has a better purpose, mission, family and eternal paradise for you with beautiful angels beckoning and your angelic smile will once again shine. Keep smiling and lighting up Paradise with your smile. Sleep well my brother. God be with you till we see you smile again.

I am heartbroken and never imagined I will write this. 
Going back, and writing about my fond memories of Ayo as a son.
Ayo was a cute, gentle, cool, calm , harmless lovable son, every one of us loved to have around our homes and wish to have as son or brother. On my wedding day, Ayo was one of the 2 page boys I had. He was so cute that day as you will see in my wedding photo.
I Know him to be very polite, unassuming, and stays away from trouble. I recall a teacher harassed him in secondary school and the whole family rose up to defend a harmless young boy. 
Hearing of his demise saddened me. 
May Ayo's gentle soul rest in peace and I pray the family left behind find comfort at this trying time. 
Ayo we will surely miss you.

Fondest Memories must’ve been those “stolen sips” of my coke while I faked being engrossed watching soaps on Tv. Also that brave but failed attempt at hiding your bloodied cheekbone inflicted by some Teacher at school.
Before I could secure parking space - an otherwise very peaceful MomoYvette had pummeled the erring Teacher, to the wild applause of 300+ Students at St John tired of the teacher’s bullying. Couldn’t tell who I was most sorry for….you the very embarrassed son of a female Mohammed Ali, or the dazed Teacher begging for mercy.
We miss you, but GOD Almighty needs you more.  Rest Blissfully & Blessfully in JESUS Bosom!

 For the two times I encountered you, I noticed your calmness, gentleness and peaceful nature. I couldn't get the opportunity to know you more but my perception was  confirmed after your passing.
Indeed, you are a son every father will wish to have and by extention a brother we desire to around for a long time..but God knows Best.  Ayo why so soon??
I have many questions without answers,  but who am I to question why beautiful flowers  have such a short life span..  I can only trust the All Knowing God who gives life and take it away..

It's so surreal having to write about such a vibrant individual. Ayo had such presence, but in a calm subtle manner. He always had that smile, such a respectful young man. I can still see that smiling face in my mind's eye. The last time I saw him he still had that dignified look even though I could tell he was in great pain. Ayo did his best to smile and waved as I waved back. That moment is etched in my heart. I prayed for God to heal you, but it was not to be. The Lord knows best, He wanted you back. You fought the good fight and I know that you are safely in the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ. I will always miss you. Rest in perfect peace Ayo!  Auntie Hannah.
