

Betty Lou Carter, 84, of Rockville, MD, passed away on October 7, 2023, at Shady Grove Hospital. Born on May 2, 1939, she was the loving wife of Robert Carter for 57 years. Betty was a kind-hearted person who never turned down a stranger in need of food. Her home was always open, and no one left hungry or feeling unloved. She had a heart of gold and was always ready to help anyone in need. Betty had a special bond with her great granddaughter, Aubrey, and cherished her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her, including her beloved dog Freda, and her two cats, Frisky and Milo.
Betty is survived by her husband, Robert Carter, her son, Steven Bounds (wife Geraldine), her daughter Robin Gerard, her son Daniel Carter, her son Michael Carter (wife Kristie) her daughter Linda Hunter, her son, Brian Carter, and her special daughter-in-law Janet Horton. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Parks and Marjorie Harris and her son Donnie Horton.
Betty attended First Baptist of Rockville for many years. She found solace and comfort in her faith. In her free time, Betty enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and word searches, as well as working on jigsaw puzzles. She also loved watching Hallmark Christmas movies and soap operas on CBS.
A visitation will be held on Monday, October 16, 2023, from 10:00-11:00am, followed by funeral services from 11:00-11:45am at DeVol Funeral Home, 10 East Deer Park Drive, Gaithersburg, MD. Graveside services will be held immediately following at Potomac United Methodist Church Cemetery, 10300 Falls Road, Potomac, MD.
