Crystal was born on November 26, 1955 to Zhao-yun Ni and Yi-bao Zhao in Shanghai China. She was raised with much love and care. She was only able to graduate from Huang-Pu Middle School due to the cultural revolution at the time, before coming to the United States at the end of 1980.
After coming to the United States, Crystal worked a variety of jobs. She married Tim Cheng in 1987. The two traveled around the country, finding new work opportunities, before settling down in Gaithersburg and opening their own marketplace, New Asia Market, in 1990. They had their only child, Randy Cheng, in 1994. The two would work extra hard running the business and raising their child at the same time. Unfortunately, Crystal had to sell the market due to increasing costs in 2011. Determined to fund her child’s future, she opened a restaurant called House of Fortune in 2013. Crystal tirelessly managed and ran the restaurant up until her end.
Crystal cared for Randy very much and was always thinking about his future and wellbeing as she worked tirelessly to provide for her family. Crystal was a bold and determined entrepreneur who used her experience and talents for the people she loved.
Crystal was predeceased by her father, Zhao-yun Ni, and her mother, Yi-bao Zhao. She is survived by her ex-husband, Tim Cheng, her son, Randy Cheng, her brothers: Tom Ni, and En-hui Ni, her niece: Gina Ni, and her sister-in-law: Hong-fong Shi
