She was born on August 01, 1942, in Geisenheim, Germany and grew up in Kettwig, Germany. She immigrated to the United States in 1961 at the tender age of 19. Her intention was just to learn the language at first and then return to Germany but ended up staying here through twists of fate.
She always loved living in America but never forgot her roots. She was proud to be German and always sought that connection. Her first job in New York City was with Lufthansa. She continued to use her German Skills at other future positions as well. She worked at Volkswagen, Berlitz Language School, The German Embassy and The World Bank.
She loved the arts. She played the piano beautifully as well as her acoustic guitar. She especially loved classical music and was also an Elvis Presley fan. She enjoyed singing with the Washington Sängerbund and especially loved singing at their annual Spring and Christmas Concerts.
She was a proponent of Education and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in German Studies from American University, while being a single mom. She loved a good debate discussing The Bible, Philosophy and History. She enjoyed socializing with people and her famous German Potato Salad and Oatmeal Raisin Cookies were enjoyed by all. She also loved her little “Pooches” named Arno and Marlon. She was unforgettable, and we loved her.
She was predeceased by her parents, Dr. Reinhard Budde and Gertrud Budde; sister Ingrid Abt and grandson Dante Zezzo. She is survived by her brothers, Dr Hans Jürgen Budde and Dr. Rolf Budde; daughters, Gergana (Georgiev) Zezzo and Tatyana (Georgiev) Knop; grandchildren, Arturo Zezzo, Dominic Zezzo, Sophia Knop, Damian Zezzo and Phillip Knop.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1pm on October 27, 2024, at Bradley Hills Presbyterian Church, 6601 Bradley Blvd, Bethesda, MD 20817 followed by a Coffee and Cake (Kaffe und Kuchen) reception at the Church.
