Dianne Riggs Carberry

Born in Huntington, Long Island Dianne graduated from LenoxHillHospital’s School of Nursing in New York City and ColumbiaUniversity’s Teachers College. She worked in the operating room and later taught medical surgical nursing at Lenox Hill. After moving to the Washington area, she was an operating room nurse at SibleyHospital. 

She loved her family, her church, and her country.  Dianne was twice president of the Westmoreland Hills Garden Club and a long term volunteer in her community for Meals on Wheels, Westmoreland Hills Citizens Association and at her children’s schools. She was on the Children’s Health Board of Children’s NationalHospital for many years.  In recent years she was a volunteer in the rectory of the Church of the Little Flower in Bethesda, Maryland.

She is survived by her husband, Michael, sons Glen and John and John’s wife Christina, daughter Catherine Irving and her husband, Joshua Irving.  She has four grandchildren, Garrett, Devon, Alexis and Henry. Donations in her memory may be made to the Church of the Little Flower in Bethesda.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Little Flower Parish, 5607 Massachusetts Ave., Bethesda, MD20816 from 10:30 until time of Mass at 12:00 PM.  She will be buried at ArlingtonNationalCemetery at a later date.
