My wife Sherri and I enjoyed our time together with Eric and Jill when they lived in Germany while working with Black Forest Academy.  We were in a house group together for a number of years.  My favourite memory of them is every Sunday they would pull up at church in their teensy-weensy green Austin Mini and - Eric and Jill are both tall individuals - unfold themselves to get out of the tiny car.  Our prayers are with you Jill.  May the Comforter fill you with His strength and peace.

Jillian and family, I was shocked to hear of Eric's passing and I'm so sorry for your loss. Eric was a huge influence in my life during his time at Komensky Academy and Riverside School. He was an educator who really cared about his students and gave his time both in and out of the classroom. I still have great memories of working on projects with him at school, Budapest trips, and even that airshow in Fishers when I was in college. It's hard to believe it's been over 20 years since we've spoken, but I'll always appreciate his mentorship and friendship. Thank you for sharing him with us!

Dear Jillian and family, 
I worked to recruit Eric to his role at the Seoul Foreign School. He was the perfect candidate for the role.  Throughout the process it was evident that he cared deeply for his family. We stayed in touch and I was very happy for him when he took his new role at George Mason. Condolences to all of you.

Sorry for your loss dear family.  Eric was one of the missionary staff at my Dorm in BFA.  As a teenager, I always enjoyed his fun, loving nature  which made staying away from home easier. His Christlike personality only encouraged my decision to follow Christ. 

25 yrs later, when I was living by faith and struggling to be in full time ministry, Eric contacted me and felt led to start supporting me for a season.  I know that right now he will be enjoying the fruits of his labor for God's Kingdom.

Jill- We have so many precious memories of Eric.  Hanging out when we were just young couples, getting married a week after you two, laughing , visiting you in Europe, Dean and Eric biking in the 24 hour, etc. Eric was so fun to hang out with, but we most appreciate his precious heart - for the Lord and others.  We are praying for you and Jacob and Anya, as well as all the deHaans and Crouchs.  We rejoice that Eric is in the presence of Jesus now with Kirk and his parents.

Eric played a huge role in the founding and development of the IU Kelley School of Business Global Dean’s Council. He and I worked closely in member identification and cultivation and attended the first two meetings together (Seoul and Singapore). An amazing, kind-hearted professional.

Several years ago, Eric treated me(Hugo) and my friend, Jay, dinner in Seoul.
We talked alot about IU. It is a good and sweet memory to me. RIP Eric!

In 2010 I travelled to India with Eric and a group of Kelley School first year students.  I remember him always sitting in the back of the bus (with his father-in-law!) and being so much fun.  His goofiness put students at ease and made our ten days together really memorable. I'm thinking of you during this difficult time.

Eric, along with Jill, Jacob and Anya were a foundational and essential influence in the establishing of the Riverside High School in Prague.  Eric brought such a depth of Biblical wisdom and academic knowledge that enabled the school to transition and develop into the school that we now know.  Eric brought all the qualities of being a deeply caring leader, with a great sense of humour, who enabled a diverse international community to realise the goal of further education.  Eric's commitment to his faith was evident in everything he modelled.   There have been thousands of students that have walked the path that Eric was instrumental in laying.  His legacy to the nations is rich and tangible.  He will always be remembered with deep gratitude and huge respect.

We are heartbroken to say goodbye and grieve deeply alongside youin the suffering and in the smiles, treasure is found.  With Love and Sympathy,

My condolences to Jillian, Jacob and Anya who have lost a wonderful husband and father. May his soul rest in peace and may his memory be eternal. Eric visited Jakarta, Indonesia several times where we met over dinners with other IU alums.
