

Hans-Peter Guttmann, 69, died suddenly of a heart attack on August 15, 2024.He was predeceased by his parents, H. Peter Guttmann and Margherita Gieffers Guttmann. He is survived by his loving aunt, Alessandra Gieffers, and his close friend, Marin Moradel, MD.
Hans-Peter was born in Bogota, Colombia, where his parents had moved as newlyweds and he lived there between 1952 and 1955. In 1961 the family moved to Washington, D.C., and became active members of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Parish where Hans-Peter graduated from Our Lady of Victory Elementary School. He would later graduate from Georgetown Prep and Kenyon College.Between 1978 and 1996 Hans-Peter became his father’s principal associate in HPG Associates
representing international firms of engineers and architects before the multilateral institutions in Washington, D.C.After his father’s retirement, Hans-Peter and his mother Margherita continued to sail with H. Peter on their sailboat “The Atitlan III." Hans-Peter was an avid sailor and continued for years sculling on the Potomac.
He was a gifted writer & computer designer. Besides assisting numerous clients with their writing projects, he composed a book of images/graphics representing his thoughts and reflections. This book became a photo album & graphical diary that he entitled ”Reminiscences from the Time of the Plague."
For almost fifty years, Hans-Peter assisted his mother Margherita in her “Meals on Wheels” weekly deliveries to seniors living in the NW Section of Washington, a program she co-founded, eventually becoming her full time deliverer.For many years he also assisted Margherita with the weekly Luncheon & Bible Study Group at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church.
On October 23, 2024, at 11:30 am a Mass of Christian Burial will celebrateHans-Peter Guttmann at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 4835 Mac Arthur Blvd., NW, Washington, D.C.His interment will be on October 25, 2024, in our family plot in Saint Joseph’s Cemetery in Hackensack, New Jersey.
