Your father has been my primary care doctor since I moved to Maryland 26 Years ago to pursue my education and eventually my career in Government service.  Your father is like a father to us all most especially to the  Fil-Am community of Maryland, Virginia and DC.   I will miss him dearly he took care of me when I am sick and have always treated me with sincerity and respect.   Rest in Peace "doc" look after us in heaven.

Dr. Asuncion was my Dr. for a good 30 years. He was a friend to both me and my late husband. Always had a glad to see you smile on his face. 

Hector would ask how you were doing, how is everything on the farm, are you still mowing the fields.

As the former owner of Family Pharmacy in Poolesville, I had a close professional working relationship with Dr. Asuncion for over ten years. He was always kind and considerate to his patients and staff. He occasionally would stop in the store to chat and I found his stories and anecdotes be immensely interesting. Sometimes he would bring his young son into the pharmacy to pick out a candy bar. As far as I could see, Dr Asuncion was as great a dad as he was a physician.
It has been many years since we last spoke but the memories I have of him as an excellent, caring physician and a kind person will never fade. I will miss him dearly.

To the family of Dr. Asunción, on behalf of the O’Rangers family, I would like to offer our sincerest condolences on the passing of such a great man, role model, and humanitarian. 

You may not know the full extent of his legacy, so I would like to offer an account of him that I learned from my late father, who was a patient of his and who admired him greatly.

My Dad worked for FDA as a scientist. One of his closest colleagues worked with Dr. Asunción emergency room settings. As that colleague stated, Dr. Asunción was unflappable and handled pressure like no other. In the worst possible situations, he was a rock and saved lives where others could not.

I can truly say that Dr. Asunción was one of the finest people I’ve ever had the privilege of knowing. He was good to our family and we will miss him greatly.

I am so sorry to read about the passing of Dr Asuncion.  He was such a wonderful person and Dr.  He always had time to listen and made sure that all concerns were taken seriously.    He knew all the top Drs in the area and recommended them as needed.  I never had a Dr he recommended be anything less than he had told me.  This world has lost a very wonderful man.  To his family  - my sincerest condolences and prayers.

My heart aches with the news of Dr. Asuncion's passing. The loss resonates deeply, not just for our family, but for so many others whose lives he touched over these past two decades. He was more than our physician; he was a trusted friend and confidante. He cared for me, my husband, our daughter, my brother's family, and most especially, my mother providing not only exceptional medical care, but also unwavering compassion and genuine warmth.

I will cherish the memory of his kind smile and the familiar greeting, “Kumusta na Ms. Germantown?” It was more than just a question; it was an affirmation of his genuine care and concern for each of us. He possessed a rare ability to make every patient feel like an extension of his family, fostering a level of trust and comfort that is sadly uncommon in today's world.

The shock of his passing is still raw, and the inability to say a proper goodbye adds to the profound sadness. I recall vividly his tireless dedication during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. His calls, even on weekends, checking on my well-being during my illness in December 2019, exemplified his unwavering commitment to his patients. His care extended far beyond the typical doctor-patient relationship, demonstrating a level of empathy and selflessness that was truly exceptional.

The entire family mourns the loss of such a remarkable man. His legacy of compassion and exceptional medical care will forever remain in our hearts.

I myself did not know this wonderful and caring doctor but my husband was a patient for over 45 years and I became a patient only five years ago. 
He always was able to make you smile even on your worst day.

When I got here in America last 2007, I was coughing so bad and so I found Dr Asuncion, who’s also from the Philippines.
He did some test for its my first visit , and after the ecg test . He said IHA, did you know you have a heart condition., I said no . He said I will recommend you to a heart specialist. And true enough I was suffering from a wolf white Parkinson’s syndrome.
Dr Hector Asuncion saved my life.
Will be forever grateful.

My deepest sympathy to the family.  He was my primary care doctor for over 47 years and will be hard to replace.   He prescribed for himself a life of work and care for others.

Wow I feel like I lost a member of my family. What a great man he was,took care of my grandparents all the way to my son. When my husband was dying of cancer we were so much like family he prayed with us. Never will be another like him, my heart is breaking but I know I will see him again in heaven. God Bless the family.

I moved to Maryland in 1997 and that’s when  I met this wonderful caring Doctor who always had time for his patients. He was my Family Doctor and also my son’s pediatrician.  He will be greatly missed, they don’t make Doctor like him anymore.

Dr. Asuncion was one of the kindest and most caring people I have ever known.  I met him 20+ years ago when I began visiting his office as a pharmaceutical rep. Over the years, he was always there welcoming me with a smile and kind words. He became a friend, and I have such fond memories being invited over to his home or special Filipino events enjoying delicious food and singing karaoke around the piano. It has been a couple years since I stopped by to say hello at Adventist.  But I know he is in heaven with the angels and certainly heard job well done when he arrived. Emerito Asunción (and all who loved Dr. Asunción):

I attended the service for him this morning, and Emerito, I loved your stories about buck shot in the duck, your nearly fainting during a mass removal in Germantown, and other anecdotes. 😁 As we all know, Dr. Asunción was funny. 

Here are some memories that still make me laugh.

Story 1: I arrive, doubled over in pain, and Dr. Asunción calls me in right away. I lie on the table, and Dr. Asunción pokes me three times in the abdomen. First poke, I feel nothing. Second poke: “Ow.” Third poke: OOOWWWW!” Dr. Asunción: “You have diverticulitis.”  Okay, shaman.

Story 2: Doc says, “Bissonette—that’s French.” I say yes, it is. Doc says, “Do you like cheese?” I’m perplexed. Three seconds later, we’re both giggling like kids.

Story 3: I ask Doc if he has pets. He says he has cats, or rather, he clarifies, his wife has cats. Given a choice, he says, his wife would kick him out of the house and keep the cats.

My husband and I are grateful to have known him and for everything he’s done for us during the many years he was our doctor. We’ll miss him beyond words.

I’m so sorry to be reading this. Dr Asuncion was not only a Dr. but a family friend. He’ll truly be missed. May his light shine always with your beautiful memories. My sincere condolences. Hugs of comfort durning this sad time.

It was an honor and privilege to work with Dr. Asuncion at the Germantown Primary Care office at Adventist HealthCare for the past few years. His zeal and passion for his work was visible when he cared for his patients. He devoted his entire life to bring healing to his community. A man of integrity, compassion, and excellence, Dr. Asuncion will truly be missed. My heartfelt prayers go out to his family members and loved ones. Dr. Asuncion was my doctor for just a little over a year. I really enjoyed meeting him and experiencing his brand of humor. When I told him I had a treadmill at home, he asked me if I use it to hang clothes. When I announced that I had successfully brought down my cholesterol, he told me to target a number below which, in his words, "You will never have a heart attack, although that will not stop your wife from smothering you with a pillow". This year when I went for my check-up, I noticed something was wrong, as he was ushered out and I was transferred to another doctor. I kept hoping it was a temporary health concern, and am deeply saddened to see he did not make it.  Condolences to his family.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of your beloved husband. Remembering our time together in the Philippine Medical Association MWDC, his dedication as president was truly inspiring. From the showcase of Philippine culture and dance during the Gala at the Willard Hotel to planning the picnic with pharmaceutical exhibits and CME at a private residence, his efforts not only elevated our standards but also maximized our fundraising success.

It is with a heavy heart that we begin to say our good byes to my Uncle Hector. The younger brother of my father, Emerito Sr.. He was not only a pillar of achievement for our entire family and along with my parents, he was pivotal in providing inspiration to myself and my 4 siblings to becoming health professionals like him achieving 5 Drs. in my family alone! Along with other nieces and nephews in the medical field he exemplified to us as a Filipino immigrant through hard work, one can achieve the American Dream. His giving spirit to his faith and community was just as unwavering as the dedication he gave to his patients and profession. For over 50 years serving as a Physician to the communities of Silver Spring, Germantown, and Poolesville Maryland, he was practicing medicine up to the day he took ill! Often I would tease him that I hope to be able to practice as long as he at 88 years old and still be sharp as a tack! 😉 God speed “Tito Peto” you will always be in our hearts and minds and hope we can live up to your expectations as Asuncion’s serving our families and communities like you had for so many years! ❣️😔🙏

I am Lydia and I have worked with Dr. Asuncion for 18 years. I finished medical assistant school in 2007 and I did my externship with Dr. Asuncion and after that I was hired by him. I learned a lot from him. He trained me well. He tutored me. He was my father, he was my mentor, he was part of my family.
 I always looked up to him even to the extent that I would tell him all of my problems and he would give me advice. My relationship with Dr. Asuncion was very pure although there were good times and bad times. One thing I loved about him is that he is a God fearing person. He once said to me, “Lydia, before I start seeing patients I always commit my hands to God.” That really stayed with me.
Dr. Asuncion never turned away his patients whether they were late or they were walk-ins. He committed his whole life to his patients. Sometimes I would be able to tell that he was getting weary, but he would never disappoint his patients. He was dedicated to them. The days that we would have heavy snow or holidays, I would have to remind him or call him to let him know that there was no work, otherwise, he would come to work. He is the first person to be at work and because of these things his patients loved him.
Dr. Asuncion and I bonded and we worked together as a team. He makes me laugh. If I was ever out of his sight for even a second he would start calling me, “Lydia!”. One time, a new patient was seen and before the patient left he said to me, “You know, I never asked for your name, but now I know your name is Lydia.” We both laughed. That was how much Dr. Asuncion would call me. I can still hear his soft voice echoing, calling my name, “Lydia” full of compassion. 
He is a Godly man, a man of courage, full of love, confidence, and empathy. He is one of a kind.
My family and I will miss you a lot and you will never fade away in our hearts. Dr. Asuncion, may you rest in peace. Rest in the arms of the Lord. Until we meet again.

For 36 years, Dr. Asunción was our primary doc. He spent over 50 years  in emergency medicine, internal medicine, and donating his time to disaster-stricken areas of the world. 

In the midst of very un-funny circumstances, he could make me laugh. He was a great diagnostician, and he was dignified, kind, and patient. We will always love you, Dr. Asunción. 💔🥺

God grant him eternal rest and His contnued Mercies on the loved family left behind. Amen
