

Dr. Asuncion was not only a loving husband and father but also a devoted Family Physician who served his community with compassion and dedication for over 50 years. Throughout his long and distinguished career, he touched countless lives with his gentle care, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to his patients' well-being. His passion for medicine was evident in every interaction, and he was deeply respected not only for his clinical expertise but also for the kindness and empathy he brought to his practice.
Beyond his professional life, Dr. Asuncion was deeply involved in his local community and was a faithful and active member of the Catholic Church. He generously gave his time and talents to various parish ministries, always guided by his strong faith and desire to serve others. His presence was a source of comfort and strength to many, and his legacy of service and compassion will be remembered for generations.
Dr. Asuncion is survived by his loving wife, Dr. Odita Asuncion; and his beloved children: Anthony, John Christopher, Marie Gerritz , Mark Edward Asuncion, Kyla Harrison, and Romel Yatco. He also leaves behind six cherished grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life and who will carry forward his memory with love and pride. In addition, he is survived by his sister Thelma and brother Arthur, who will remember him fondly as a loving brother and steadfast presence in their lives. He served as a mentor to several of his nieces and nephews in addition to many students in the medical profession.
Services:
A viewing will be held at Devol Funeral Home in Gaithersburg on Monday, July 28th, from 12:00–2:00 PM and again from 6:00–8:00 PM.
A funeral Mass will follow on Tuesday, July 29th, at 11:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Derwood, MD.
