Irene Stuart, 97 of Gaithersburg, Maryland, passed away on February 13, 2021 at her home. Born on July 12, 1923 in Weston, West Virginia, to Arthur Clark Shively and Catherine Garrison Shively, she was the wife of the late Robert B. Stuart. She is survived by her daughter Kathryn Stuart and son-in-law David Breitman.
A graduate of West Virginia University School of Music, she was a pianist and teacher in the District Heights–Forestville area and was active with the Prince George’s Music Teachers’ Association. She and her late husband Robert gave frequent piano and marimba programs for nursing and retirement homes. Irene also served as the pianist for worship services at Asbury Methodist Village.
Graveside services and internment will be held later at Arlington National Cemetery.
