Ms Bach has been very influential in my path to being a lawyer, she was the first teacher I have to officially start my path to becoming a lawyer in Montgomery Blair high school. My only regret about Ms Bach was never saying goodbye. As I left her class two months before her passing, I was excited for school to be over and left, I don’t do well with goodbyes, plus I had the assumption I’d have her in my next year class, so yes it hit me hard during the summer to hear the news knowing full well how I left without even saying goodbye, not knowing that would be the last time I’d see her. I was even excited to know if she even won that speed ticket case she was talking about in class. Even thinking about it now still hurts, further showing the impact she had in my path to being a lawyer. Thank you Ms Bach for everything.

Jenn was a counselor at a summercamp I attended in the year 2000, who I remember very fondly. I still think about songs she wrote and performed, all these years later. One of her lessons was about subverting cliches, and as a long-time teacher myself I reference it often. I was very sad to hear of her passing (long after the fact) and wanted to share my memory of her in hopes that someone will see it and know how important we all are to everyone we meet, especially those we teach. Dear Diane & Bill, I am Denis Borum, and I spoke with Diane at the gathering on the 21st. My daughter Julia was in Jennifer's Law & Justice class this past school year. I was pleased to find out that Julia did make it much later that afternoon to the gathering with her mom, Grace. Julia said that she got to spend time with you both, with Laura and some other close friends of Jenn, and cry a lot. I am re-iterating here what I said to Diane at the gathering. Jenn was Julia's most favorite teacher to-date in her educational journey. Far more importantly, Jenn was a real mentor and Julia is feeling that loss beyond description. She just adored Jenn, and it appeared that the feeling was mutual. The spring semester represented an academic stumble for Julia - except in Jenn's class, where she earned A's. Julia was very motivated by her and strove to get the work done. Jenn also came to an end-of-year meeting with school officials reviewing Julia's educational plan. She absolutely gushed about Julia in front of all, making it very clear how much of a champion she was for her. About a month before that, Julia had come home begging to drop French 6 because Jenn had announced her intention to teach a second-level Law class next year. I said she definitely could. In that school meeting, Jenn even said how excited she was that she would have Julia again next year. Julia told me about the encouragement and advice Jenn gave her the last day of school - the last time she saw Jenn. Jenn is exactly the teacher any parent hopes their child can have. We couldn't have asked for more - except more time. As difficult as it still is for Julia, and I feel certain that she will remember Jenn just as I still easily remember my favorite H.S. teacher, I am especially comforted knowing that Jenn wanted Julia to succeed and thrive. I intend to remind her of this during any future time of self-doubt or uncertainty. I am so sorry for your loss. You continue to be in our thoughts, as we wish you strength during this impossible time. Denis

I worked with Jenn at Montgomery Blair High School for at least the past 5 years. Though we taught different subjects I grew to enjoy Jenn's snarky sense of humor and appreciate her grounded analysis of the politics that drive MCPS. She offered expertise in the classroom that will not be replaced and commitment that is hard to find. Her passing left me shocked and her presence will be missed. No doubt, us teachers, will return to Blair with a deep sense of loss come the last week August. My condolences go out to her family and friends. Her departure was sudden and no doubt those left behind continue on with a heavy heart.

I was so sad to hear of Jennâ€™s passing, I worked with her through her JLS classes and Street Law. I will miss her legal expertise and her humor, she was a great resource and I enjoyed working in collaboration with her. May she Rest In Peace and all of her friends and family be warmed by memories of her joy.
