Joan Costigan, 81, of Rockville, MD, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025. Born in Washington, D.C., to Elliott and Anne Solow. Joan was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was predeceased by her devoted husband of 57 years, Albert, and her cherished grandson Levi. She is survived by her two sons, Kenneth and David, daughter-in-law Erika, and her grandchildren Elijah and Alandra. Joan is also lovingly remembered by her brother Steve Solow, her sister Laurie Miller, her nephews Brad and Danny Miller, Brad’s wife Alie, and their daughter Carly.
Joan was married to the love of her life and best friend Albert for 57 years. She was devoted to her family and adored her grandchildren. Whether enjoying a round of golf, playing tennis, traveling to new places, or dancing to the music she loved, she embraced life with enthusiasm and a full heart. Her kindness, warmth, and laughter will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and joy will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025 at 11:30 am, Crownsville Veterans Cemetery, 1122 Sunrise Beach Rd, Crownsville, MD 21032 where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Albert.
