Joseph Stephen Russell

Joseph Stephen Russell, known as Joey by his friends and family, aged 25, passed away on May 7th in Towson, Maryland. He bravely survived three open-heart surgeries throughout his childhood and never let his heart condition get in the way of living a happy and healthy life.

Joey, born on October 13, 1997, grew up across the US in Bethesda, MD, Louisville, KY, and Carlsbad, CA. He studied Electronic Media & Film at Towson University and will graduate posthumously this May.

Joey lived a full life with friends and family nationwide who he touched with his warm, joyous, and charismatic personality and heart-warming presence. He was pursuing a career in film & TV and had a passion for the cinematic arts. Joey was able to work in his field of interest at DC WUSA9 as a Production Assistant before attending Towson.

At the time of his death, Joey was enjoying life at Towson University with his Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity brothers, taking film classes, frequently visiting his family and beloved dogs in North Potomac.

Joey is survived by his parents, Rob and Linnea Russell, his sister, Carly Russell, and his two family dogs, Mack and Gracie, along with his loving family and beloved friendships near and far.

For those who would like to pay respect to Joey’s life, a service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday May 13, 2023 at Chevy Chase United Methodist Church located at 7001 Connecticut Ave, Chevy Chase, MD 20815.
