Judith Elizabeth (Grimes) Beisner, “Judy” of Gaithersburg, MD, passed away on February 19, 2022, at the age of 84.
Judy was a loving mother of Amy Harroff (Craig) and William Beisner (Patti); beloved grandmother of Roland Berger (Gabriella), Kiedel Harroff, Brooke Vanderford (Keven), and Nicole Beisner; and great-grandmother of Maya and Noah Berger. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Henry (Hank).
Judy grew up in California, Pennsylvania. She attended Ohio State University where she met Hank. She was an active member and leader in the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She graduated in 1960, with a BS in Medical Technology. She and Hank moved to Rockville, Maryland in 1962, when Hank was transferred to the IBM Federal Systems Division. Judy began working part time in the hematology lab at George Washington University Hospital, where she remained for over 40 years.
In 1964, Judy and Hank were founding members of Faith United Methodist Church in Rockville, Maryland, where Judy became an active leader in the local and district chapters of the United Methodist Women. Her commitment to Faith Church was deep. She was instrumental in starting the church pre-school, a Mother’s Day Out Program, and a regular lunch program for local senior citizens, which continued for over 20 years. Some refer to the kitchen at Faith Church as “Judy’s Kitchen”. She supplied hundreds of meals and never cooked the same thing twice. Her work also led to multiple close friendships that lasted her lifetime.
Judy was also an avid sports fan. She was an encyclopedia of names, games, and wins. She followed the Ohio State Buckeyes, Washington Redskins, and Pittsburgh Pirates religiously. She also loved to play bridge and looked forward to Sunday’s when she would complete the Washington Post crossword puzzle.
Judy will be remembered for her tireless commitment to Faith United Methodist Church, her friends, and family.
A memorial service will be held in her honor at Faith United Methodist Church, 6810 Montrose Road, Rockville, MD, on Saturday, April 2nd, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Montgomery Hospice
