Julie is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Michael Blaese, and her beloved daughters Elise and Kristianne. Her memory is cherished by her five grandchildren: Julianne, Giovanni, Isabella, Abigail, and Katrina; and her daughter’s husbands Rick and Paul.
Julie was born in Litchfield Minnesota daughter of the late Frieda and Alfred Johnson and sister of the late Gary Johnson.
Julie spent her childhood on a farm in Litchfield and in middle school she moved with her family to St. Peter, Minnesota. She attended Gustavus Adolphus College and studied nursing. At Gustavus, she also met and later married the love of her life, Mike. Julie completed a MS in nursing education from the University of Minnesota, and taught nursing in Minnesota and Texas. After the completion of Mike’s medical residency, they moved to Rockville, Maryland and started their family. In retirement they resided in New Hope, Pennsylvania.
Julie's greatest joy was spending time with her family. She and Mike built a weekend house on Maryland's eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay especially for family time. The "crab house," as the grandchildren call it, is a place of tranquility, relaxation and rejuvenation. Where the family spent time together in the natural beauty of the Chesapeake; watching bald eagles soar; crabbing together; taking boat trips to explore the Bay; and watching the beautiful sunsets.
Julie loved artistic pursuits and was a talented pianist, seamstress and dancer. She taught ballet and loved performing with the Rockville Civic Ballet. She and Mike were also blessed to have traveled all over the world as part of his career, and enjoyed having friends from “everywhere”.
Julie will be deeply missed for her caring nature and loving heart.
If you wish, contributions can be made in her name to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation; The Immune Deficiency Foundation; or Children with Diabetes.
Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers for Julie and the Blaese Family.
