Juliet Diane Wolfe of Gaithersburg, Maryland, a beloved teacher, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend known for her kindness and humor, passed away on April 29, 2025. She was born March 10, 1963, in Akron, Ohio.
Juliet graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education, later earning a Master’s Degree in Teaching Math and Science from John Hopkins University and was board certified in Literacy: Reading/Language Arts.
As a teacher in Montgomery County Maryland Schools for 38 years, Juliet instilled a love of learning in hundreds of kindergarten and first grade students as they began their education. She had a particular passion for children’s literature, constantly adding new books to her classroom from a diverse group of topics and authors to help every child enjoy reading from an early age. Notes from parents of former students described how Juliet helped children be more empathetic and caring for each other, cultivating good citizens as well as enthusiastic learners. These qualities are undoubtedly important and impactful to our world now more than ever.
Juliet studied classical and jazz piano for 14 years and played clarinet, eventually transitioning to bassoon, which she played in the Akron Youth Symphony. Her love of music continued in her classroom, incorporating into the curriculum all types of music ranging from Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass to Yo-Yo Ma, entertaining and inspiring her students.
In addition to being a highly respected and requested teacher, Juliet was known for her love of all things Disney, visiting Walt Disney World with extended family including her nieces and nephew for over 20 years. For the last several years, Juliet took one or two trips annually with her sister Sheryl to enjoy Disney magic and practice their shared photography hobby.
Remaining to cherish Juliet’s memory are her parents, David L. and Nancy C. (Waters) Wolfe, siblings Sheryl K. Monnier (Timothy) and David K. Wolfe (Jacquie), nephew Matthew and nieces Rachel (Scott), Sarah (Jaron) and Rebekah Monnier.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to the charity of your choice in Juliet’s honor or to one of the many causes and organizations she was passionate about including No Kid Hungry and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
The family will be holding a private celebration of Juliet’s life at a later date.
