Kenneth Elbert Combs

Kenneth Elbert Combs, 81, of Washington, DC, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 20, 2025. Kenneth was born on December 18, 1943, in Washington, DC to the late William and Marie Combs.

Kenny worked for 35 years as a maintenance worker for DC Public Schools at Lafayette Elementary School and enjoyed every day helping students and teachers. He enjoyed spending time outdoors observing the people and places of his much-loved Chevy Chase neighborhood. Some of his other hobbies included playing pool, bowling, watching wrestling and martial arts movies. He also enjoyed sketching, writing limericks and short poems. His quiet spirituality was evident throughout his life. Kenny was a lifelong fan of his beloved Washington Redskins faithfully watching games and collecting team memorabilia. This year he enjoyed seeing his team finally have a shot at the Super Bowl after so many disappointing years.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Carolyn Marie Combs and his sister Norma Pritchard.

Kenny will be greatly missed by his son Brian W. Combs of Gaithersburg, MD, his loving grandchildren Amber Combs and Owen Combs who filled his life with joy, and his niece Tina Brady of Havre de Grace, MD.
