Kevin Richard Nichols

Kevin Richard Nichols passed away suddenly in his home on July 23, 2023. He was born on July 27, 1961, in Columbus, Ohio and moved to Gaithersburg, MD at the age of 10 where he lived the remainder of his life. He was 61 years old.

Kevin graduated from Seneca Valley High School in 1980 and worked at several restaurants in the area. He was very active with many local organizations including the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair; Rockville Volunteer Fire Department; Montgomery Central Derwood Lions Club; American Cancer Society Relay for Life; Montgomery County Firefighters Pipes and Drums; Montgomery County CERT; the Gaithersburg Book Festival; and many others.

Kevin was a continually active with the Redland Baptist Church in Derwood, MD and could be found greeting members at the door on most Sundays. Before joining Redland, he was a member of the Church of the Redeemer in Gaithersburg.

Kevin is survived by his mother, Barbara Nichols; his brother, Jay Nichols; his sister, Lisa Heaton; a niece and nephew. He was predeceased by his father, Roland Richard (Dick) Nichols. He was a loving son, brother, nephew, and uncle. The members of his family are deeply saddened, and we will hold him in our hearts forever.

Kevin was an outgoing, friendly people-person who took every opportunity to participate with his family, friends, and his community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A memorial of this incredibly special individual will be held at Redland Baptist Church, 6922 Muncaster Mill RD, Derwood, MD 20855 on Tuesday, Aug 1, 2023 at 11:00 am with a viewing at 10:00 am. Interment will follow the service at Norbeck Cemetery in Olney, MD.
