Leticia Dalupan Afable

She was born in the Philippines to Maximiano T. and Primitiva N. Dalupan. Leticia was known for her absolute love for her family, her resilience, fierce presence and her deep embrace of our Catholic faith.

She is survived by her 6 children and their families: Talby & Shirley Afable; Louie & Gregoria Afable; Lawrence & Joy Afable; Liza & Carl Latham; Lira & Michael Ilagan; John & Jacqueline Afable. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Leoncio J. Afable, whom she missed dearly and spoke of with joy.

Leticia is lovingly remembered as Maman or Lola Mami by her grandchildren: Krystina & Michael; Karly & Campbell; Krystl & Sean, Tino & Becky, Karen; Jessica, Lucas; Cory & Nhi, Camron, Lia; Sebastian; and Chloe; and as GrandMaman by her great grandchildren: Keegan, Bennett, Grant; Lola, Josie, Aria, and Winter.

Leticia had five siblings and is survived by her brothers, Arturo and Tito, and her sister, Vicki. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Julian and her sister, Rosalie.

We will miss our Mama more than we can ever say and find comfort in the many great memories of our time with her. We will always remember her quick smile and laughter, generous spirit, her sharp mind and her love for family. She always wanted to know people's names and would always greet them by name.

We will smile fondly when we remember her quirks - like rubbing alcohol and stickers are universal for everything. Power outlets in homes must be covered so we would find stuffed animals, furniture or pillows in front of them, there could never be enough pillows. Gardens or grottos would suddenly appear at her childrens' homes. She always dressed in the most trendy clothes, even when gardening, and in full makeup and wearing her best jewelry.

There will be visitation on Thursday, February 19 from 4pm to 8pm at De Vol Funeral Home in Gaithersburg, MD.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 20 at 11:00am at St Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Gaithersburg, MD.

Our Papa's ashes will be at Visitation, Mass and at All Souls Cemetary in Germantown so they can be laid to rest together.
