Michael John Belson

On Sunday, September 8, 2024, Michael John ”Mike” Belson, of Silver Spring, MD passed away peacefully at Holy Cross Hospital after a courageous four year lung cancer battle with his loving wife, Shannon McMurtrey-Belson, and daughters Erin Shea and Kelsey Claire Belson also of Silver Spring by his side. Mike joins his father Michael John Belson, brother Kevin Belson, and stepfather Joel Edler in eternal and peaceful rest. In addition to his wife, Shannon, Mike is survived by his proud mother, Judith McGlynn Edler of Iola, WI; and his two other children, son Matthew and daughter Caitlyn Belson, as well as grandsons Camden and Bronson all of Green Bay, WI. Additionally, Mike is survived by five brothers and sisters: Bridget, Brian (Laurie), Patrick (Allison), Christopher (Sandi) and Molly Belson, as well as three stepbrothers: Joel Stephen Edler, Tom Edler, and Jamie Edler, aunts and uncles, cousins, more than a dozen nieces and nephews, and countless dear friends.

A memorial visitation will be held at Holy Cross Church, 4900 Strathmore Ave., Garrett Park, MD on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm followed by a Mass of Christian Burial offered at 12:00 pm. A celebration of life for Mike will be held at Rockwood Terrace, Level 2 of the Ariens Hill Bldg. (Titletown Complex), 941 True Lane, Green Bay, WI on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 from 12:00 pm to 2:30 p.m. In honor of his military service with the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army, Michael will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
