Michael Daniels

Michael “Mike” Daniels died peacefully June 11, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer that came swiftly and unexpectedly mid-March. Despite his sudden departure, Mike’s body of work as a husband, father, brother and friend leaves a lasting mark that will be carried in the hearts by all who loved him.

Michael was born and raised in Cleveland, OH, son of Donald and Susanne Daniels and brother to Steve and Cindy Daniels. After spending his early years in the Midwest, Mike’s mom’s remarriage to George White brought him to Washington, D.C. Shortly thereafter, he met the love of his life, Patricia Reilly “Patty Daniels”, at the beautiful beaches of Delaware.

His first job at the Dept. of Labor/Park Service introduced him to landscaping and parlayed into starting his first business with a partner in that field. Mike’s entrepreneurial spirit and skills continued throughout his life and career, eventually leading him back to the MD/DE beaches, where he left his mark in real estate development and as a beloved member of the community. He found happiness through a wide range of pleasures including biking, paddle tennis, traveling, collecting wine and entertaining family and friends with his incredible magic tricks.

His greatest joy was his family: Patty, Kelsey and Danny Glading (Reilly, Jack and Rosie), John and Michelle Daniels (Kate and Connor “CJ”) and Coleman “Colie” Daniels as well as many family cats and dogs, including his beloved Penny and Pudge.

Friends and family are welcome to join us on Thursday, June 16th at 11:00 AM (viewing), with a mass following at 12:00 PM at Our Lady of Mercy, 9222 Kentsdale Dr, Potomac, MD 20854. A reception lunch to follow at Congressional Country Club, 8500 River Rd, Bethesda, MD 20817. In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made to Catholic Charities, c/o 924 G St NW, Washington, DC 20001.
