It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michael James Dean. Michael was the beloved son of Jimmy and Bobbie Dean and a loving father to McKayla and Riley Dean. He was a cherished brother to Tommy, David, and Danny Dean as well as a friend to so many. While we struggle to comprehend his sudden loss, we know that his memory will forever remain in our hearts, and we find peace in knowing he has been reunited with his older sister, Tammy Dean, in heaven. Kristy Dean was the great love of Michael’s life and a truly cherished part of his world.
A standout athlete from a young age, Michael excelled in youth leagues across football, basketball, baseball, and track, always striving to keep pace with his older brothers, ultimately surpassing them as the fastest. He continued his athletic journey at Fork Union Military Academy, where he won two state championships in football and excelled in track. Michael went on to play football at Campbellsville University before transferring to The Citadel, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice.
Michael’s passion for athletics carried on through his children, McKayla and Riley, whom he loved watching compete in their own athletic pursuits. As an adult, he developed a deep love for history, able to share fascinating facts at a moment’s notice. Known for his vibrant spirit, Michael was the light of every room, often stirring up mischief and bringing joy to those around him. His warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for his family and friends left a lasting mark on all who knew him.
Michael will be profoundly missed. The Dean family is grateful for your thoughts and prayers as they navigate this heartbreaking loss. At the family’s request, a private, family-only service will be held at a later date, and they appreciate your understanding as they mourn privately.
In lieu of flowers, a GoFundMe has been established to support McKayla and Riley. For those wishing to contribute to the fund to offer their support, please click the link here: https://gofund.me/a359babbf
John 14:1-3 (NIV): “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”
